Maybe not but he has played pretty well and of the WR's that may be available via free agency..he just struck me as a possibility.

It's never too early to prepare for the Draft :woot:

Based on how the draft class is shaping up and Free Agents available, here's where I think we should go;

Calais Campbell, if available will probably be the 1st rounder. If not, there appear to be some talented CBs available that could solidify our secondary for our 1st round pick. We will not be able to afford any of the major FA CBs (Samuels, Trufant), although several folks have mentioned Asimounga (spelling) from Oakland and if he comes at a reasonable price he would be a good addition to our secondary.

2nd round - if a highly rated big, physical WR or RB slips, this would be a good spot to take one. If not, FS or OL will probably be the choice. If I'm not mistaken the entire starting OL is over 30, we need to start rebuilding now before these guys breakdown in a couple of years.

OL & DL depth for the rest of the draft and a "project" back-up QB couldn't hurt.

all this negativity is hurting my head lol,we have a chance at the playoffs!!

yes we have a CHANCE at the playoffs but we're DEFINETLY goin in the draft next year so why not discuss it?

we go DE-comes in learns under P.Daniels for a year then daniels is gone and the rookie takes over
then BIG WR
then OL

Ok how about we WAIT until we are MATHMATICALLY emliminated from the PLAYOFFS before we start talking about an even that is in 2008 spring when we are in fall 2007.

All we need is an offensive line. Build that up. It'll make every player on the team better.

I agree with you completely.

Personally, I think our d-line has done well this year, and I don't think that is our biggest problem. Carter, Griffin, and Golston/Montgomery are fine (also Daniels, but he's old and might not be around much longer). We don't have to have 4 studs on the line to have a good defense. They are blue-collar guys, and they have done their job for the most part. We did pretty well this year on defense before injuries.

I also think we're fine at WR. We've got at least 3 WRs who can play: Moss, El, and McCardell. I don't really care about big WRs. The rules give the advantage to the receiver already. If a guy can run routes, and the QB can get the ball out in time, there's no need to be big -- he'll be in position, and the ball will get there. Over powering/out jumping the DB isn't really necessary if you can beat him with your route running. People act like the only way WRs can catch a pass is if they can over-power the DB. Truth is, those kind of skills are used less than route running and catching are.

Let's draft for O-line and secondary.

Thank you for seeing it my way. Think about it, even if we do get in we wont get a super bowl, if a miracle gets us there, we will play a team that beat us 52-7!!! We need to improve in order to become a superbowl team.

I disagree.
We need guys that can get pressure. Andre Carter has his moments but Daniels, Wilson and any other dlinemen have been non existent on passing downs.

Part of the reason why the skins blown leads is because we go into a cover 2 defense and the offense has all day to throw. If we are going to play safe coverages, we need dlinemen that can get pressure on their own. our guys can't.

Carter has been good with 8 sacks but the other defensive ends combine for 5 total!
Demario williams of the texans has as many sacks as our whole defensive line!

We need to add some young guys to the offensive line who can contribute 2 yearsdown the road. On the Dline, we need guys that can play week one.

the one caveat, It's hard to draft defensive linemen. We have to see who are the best players available.

Well, the draft day is months away, and if we drop one more game, we can start to really discuss who we pick. Being a total pessimist, I am going to start thinking about the draft. My thoughts are begining with picking a player in a certain position. Likely a replacement for #21 ST, but we have laron, so we have a little room to breathe. Other than a safety, where are we gonna look to improve. With Lloyd, McCardell, and maybe randle el leaving, we could look to improve with wr. Thoughts?

We shouldn't even be discussing this until a couple months (or one month) before the draft...WAY too much can happen from now til then.
