Redskins_P 12-26-2007, 04:24 PM no offense taken guys. ive said before gibbs is great as a pres. or mabey gm. but i just dont like him on the sideline, or in the locker room. he just dosent have the fire from my point of view anymore, and i wont forgive the double time-out anytime soon, but he handled the passing of ST better than anyone else ever could.
He handled the passing of ST better than anyone else ever could, but you still you don't like him in the locker room?
saden1 12-26-2007, 04:40 PM The panthers have a GM so I don't think you can lay personal issues on Fox alone. I don't think they can get anyone better, plus he has taken that team to an NFC championship game and a SB. He kinda reminds me of Bill Cowher...he is a very good coach and deserves at least one more shot.
skinsfan69 12-26-2007, 05:14 PM Bulger, Holt, and Jackson all had issues even verbal blowouts with Linehan. It's possible he's lost the team
No question Linehan has lost that team and he should be fired. I don't even know why they hired him in the first place. He reminds me of a young Norv Turner. Good O/C bad H/C. Here is my problem is Linehan. He has no clue how to use Jackson. I mean they get down on the goalline and they are always trying to pass the ball. The dude should have stats like LT, he's that good. Plus they take him out of the game alot on 3rd downs. He's the best player they have ( IMO) and they take him off the field on 3rd down? Perhpas he's being careful with him cause he's been injured but you gotta wonder.

That was a total bonehead move. But you know what was worse? Letting a rookie QB throw the ball over the middle for a 30+ yard gain with 30 seconds left. Who gets the blame on that one?????
skinsfan69 12-26-2007, 05:19 PM Mike Nolan, John Fox, Scott Linehan could and probably should all get fired. I wouldn't have kept Marvin Lewis either. He's a defensive genius but his defense is continuously poor. He has a bunch of troublemakers on the team (who he played a huge part in selecting, if not the final say), and TJ and Chad are supposedly getting into locker room arguments with Palmer. Lots of wasted talent there
Smoot.. have you heard of Marty S. going to STL??? I heard that somewhere a few weeks ago but don't remember where.

Dude...are you serious? He is probably the single best thing that happened to our locker room. I don't really care if you care for him as a coach (I don't agree with you FYI), but as a presence, holy crap, no one is better.
jsarno 12-26-2007, 11:02 PM Imagine that, a team goes to afc championship after back to back superbowls and they fire the coach (Shanahan) after two slow rebuilding seasons.
Well, it's all about what you've done for me lately.
Keep in mind they have won only 1 playoff game since thier last SB which was 9 years ago.
Daseal 12-27-2007, 12:22 AM Say what??
Sorry that literally made me laugh out loud.
Those same 'patient' fans wanted both Reid and McNabb gone about a month into this season.
I think you missed my sarcasm with that one =p

From what I understand STL is keeping Linehan. They don't think there are too many worthy candidates out there, and they had a ton of injuries to key players.
KLHJ2 12-27-2007, 02:35 AM Hot Seat (sp?):
Coughlin: The Giants fading again in the 2nd half of the season. I think lots of people want him gone even though I don't really agree with it. He has a decent shot of being fired if he doesn't advance in the playoffs.
Lovie Smith: Doubt he goes anywhere after one down year, but if this trend continues he could be gone somewhat quick in Chicago. Won't happen this season, but could be a sign of things to come.
Lewis: The defense is terrible, the offense was once potent. I feel most coaches run their course eventually. We have to remember what state the Bengals were in when Lewis went to that franchise too. I think he has a decent shot of being canned or them blowing up that team a bit. Seem to be some deep rooted problems.
Rod Marinelli: I definitely don't feel he deserves it, but it depends on how much the owner likes Matt Millen. Millen may be trying to save his job by using Marinelli as a scapegoat. I think the Lions did much better this year, but late season fades are always bad for coaches.
Andy Reid: Off the field trouble with his sons, a terrible season by recent Eagles standards. Lucky for Andy Reid, fans in Philly are patient... I could see him getting shipped off but doubt it.
Nolan: This one I'm not sure of. I think Nolan sticks around, but I doubt he gets an extra year past this one if he doesnt show improvement.
Billick: If he were a newer coach in Baltimore, he'd definitely be gone. He's done so much for that franchise it might be hard to can him just one year removed from the playoffs. He seems to have lost the team, I think there's a 50-70% chance hes gone.
Linehan: No way he goes. All of his star players went down, his team made the Redskins look like they had all their starters for the first 16 weeks. Once he got starters back, his team started playing much better. The only thing that will cause trouble now, are the fights on the sidelines. Depending on how much is behind that, he could he in trouble there.
Shanehan: No way he gets fired after this year, but his stay in Denver might be coming to a close (and if we don't go the G Will route, I'd love to have him in DC)
Mangeni: Jets will keep him at least one more year, another bad year and hes in trouble.
I could see this as a year without many hires/fires. Maybe some quitters such as Cam, Petrino (already happened), etc. But not a ton of movement in the coaching ranks IMO.
I would have to disagree with that one. I know that you stated that you doubt it, but you still listed him. He has fielded the most consistent NFC team in the last decade, and he has only missed the playoffs twice in the past 4 seasons. The only thing that has slowed his teams down in those 2 seasons was poor QB play due to injuries to McNabb. The crazy thing is that even though he missed the playoffs this season, he still has a chance to go .500 with what is arguably the most dangerous team not in the NFC Playoff picture. I think that Andy Reid is safe for a few more years.
