Congratulations Skins and FansRedskin#46 01-02-2008, 12:27 AM Cowboys had Romo, Barber and Witten into the 3rd quarter. Dallas missed 5 starters, Redskins missed 6. sandtrapjack 01-02-2008, 09:48 AM Okay, a few things, about your team: 1)We almost beat you at home at full strength, we didn't have ST, and you guys threw 4 deep bomb scores. All of your points. Dont expect it now with TO nursing an injury, and Laron Landry at short safety. 2) 27-6 is enough said. You played with much of your starters until your second set in the 3rd quarter. We kicked your excuse for a team's ass. 3) We are sprinting into the play-offs and improving every game. You guys are limping in, with 2 losses, and an almost loss to Detroit. If I were you, I'd pray the Seahawks get it done. If not, you shouldn't feel so confident; when Americas REAL team flies into Dallas. Come on, can you honestly smell what you are cooking? You are talking about a team that had a 7 game winning streak and a 5 game winning streak in the regular season. Then, when the playoffs and division are clinched, they play a little less inspired ball and go 2-2 in the month of December. Let’s take a look at some other division winners teams and compare: Pittsburgh: 2-3 in December Tampa Bay: 2-3 in December Seattle: 3-2 in December Indy: 4-1 in December, should mention that last season they were 2-3 in December and won the Super Bowl Patriots: 5-0 in December. But prior to clinching a playoff spot their average margin of victory was over 21 points per game. After clinching…10 points per game margin. (Just goes to show you that even with their “B” game they can beat you.) I am just saying that after a playoff berth is secured the #1 priority for teams is to remain relatively healthy. To do that teams cut the playbook in half and play relatively “safe” football. I have to say that I am glad to see the mood on this site improve. And at the risk of sounding condescending, I have to say I am proud of the Warpathers. Why it was just 3 weeks ago there were countless threads on how “the season was over”, “forget about the playoffs” “who do we draft”. You had several fans here that wrote of their team. And you know the ironic part of the whole thing? Myself and Giantone were 2 of the BIGGEST supporters of the Redskins during that time! Look at our history of posts and you will see what I mean. We never wrote the Skins off, but many of your own fan base did. I know if you searched my post history you will find several posts of mine and Giantone that stated how well the Redskins do historically in December, and how it was predicted that the Redskins would get that final Wildcard spot. However as a fan of my team I never have lost faith in my Cowboys. They will rumble in the playoffs, of this I am sure. Some here say I “should be worried”, but I will let you worry for the both of us, because I am not worried in the least. Redskins WILL BEAT Seattle and it will be back to the good old days when the Redskins come to Texas Stadium with a trip to the NFC Championship on the line. You could not write a BETTER post season scenario than that! GhettoDogAllStars 01-02-2008, 11:01 AM You Dallas fans make it sound like the Cowboys lost on purpose. You make it seem like there was no incentive for them to win. Personally, I think that's worse than just playing hard and losing. Dallas has a better team, IMO. They have better players, and they have executed more consistently this year. However, they have lost their momentum. They fell face first, and they did it with their starters. I don't care what is said, there is no way that's a good thing, and there's no way anyone can convince me that it isn't a bad thing. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just fooling themselves. MTK 01-02-2008, 11:09 AM If I were a Dallas fan I would be concerned with the way they have played recently. I wouldn't be worried, but definitely concerned. hail_2_da_skins 01-02-2008, 11:17 AM If I was a Cowboy fan, and I'm NOT, I would be very worried that my team backed into the playoffs. Ideally you want your team playing good football going into the playoffs. The last three weeks, the Cowboys have looked bad. You can blame it on injuries or lack of incentive, either way, it's just an excuse. The reason the Cowboys played most of their healthy starters deep into the third quarter is because they are trying to get back to playing good football. Winning the Redskin game wasn't that important, but playing well was. The Cowboys are in trouble and their fans know it. Until they start producing on the field there is that worry that they may have peeked early. The Packers are in the same boat. In the NFC, the Skins and the Giants are playing the best ball. We will see if the Cowboys and Packers can turn it on again. Stay tuned! sandtrapjack 01-02-2008, 11:49 AM The reason the Cowboys played most of their healthy starters deep into the third quarter is because they are trying to get back to playing good football. No the reasons they were played into the 3rd quarter was because there were a couple of acheivable franchise records that could be attained. And as soon as those were attained, the starter sat. That game was meaningful to the Redskins and the Redskins alone: Phillips said if the Cowboys were playing for more than pride, CB Terence Newman and NT Jay Ratliff probably would've suited up. He expects both to practice Wednesday but said the status of C Andre Gurode and WR Terrell Owens is still "iffy" for this week. Phillips goes on to say: Phillips admitted to holding back in play-calling a bit. The reason? If the Redskins beat Seattle this weekend, they'll come to Texas Stadium for the divisional playoffs. You can beileve all you want about the Cowboys "backing in to the playoffs" (I do not see how anyone "backs in" when they clinch the division 3 weeks ago) But what is more believable? A team that is 13-3, with a 7 game and a 5 game winning streak during the regular season "backing in", or a team with a 4 game winning streak (and a tendancy to choke away halftime leads) at the end of the season. Point in fact is the season finale meant NOTHING to anyone but the Redskins. It was a punt game for the Cowboys. But the only way you are going to believe any of this specualtion about Dallas it is to go on the road to Seattle and earn the right to play at Texas Stadium and prove it. MTK 01-02-2008, 11:52 AM It was a throwaway game for Dallas no doubt, but c'mon Dallas didn't want to look that bad. 1 yard rushing?! I don't care what the circumstance, the Cowboys coaches couldn't have been too pleased with the way things went against the Redskins. GhettoDogAllStars 01-02-2008, 03:03 PM The notion that the Cowboys were concealing their strategy by restricting their playcalling is absolutely absurd. Guess what? There's 15 other weeks worth of game footage to study. How would it benefit them to conceal their strategy for one game? The notion that they restricted their playcalling for the sake of preventing injuries is also absurd. I don't care what plays you call -- as long as your not spiking/kneeling the ball the risk of injury doesn't change depending on the plays being called. Stop making excuses. It's pathetic. sandtrapjack 01-02-2008, 03:21 PM Excuses? Excuses? Then why did a PRACTICE squad guy get activated to play in that game? It was not needed, but it was done anyway. Literally, that is what was done. Phillips rested Terrence Newman, he did not even make the trip to DC. And Newmans backup, Nate Jones sat and played on nickel packages and they started a practice squad player (Alan Ball) who played the whole game? Do you HONESTLY believe the Cowboys would do something like that if they gave a flyin' flip about that game last Sunday? You sound as if the Cowboys, from the TOP down, really cared about the outcome of the game. The only outcome they wanted, they acheived, no injuries. The final score did not mean jack! GhettoDogAllStars 01-02-2008, 04:24 PM If Romo gets injured, the Cowboys have virtually no shot at the Superbowl. Why take the risk and play Romo, if the potential for disaster is so great and there is no incentive to win (as you presume)? A team who doesn't care about winning, and only cares about avoiding injuries, will rest all of its key players -- especially a pro-bowl quarterback who, this season, has performed better than any other QB in franchise history. Also, let's not forget that Romo was sacked on the last play of the half attempting a hail-mary pass. That's pretty risky, and certainly not something a team does who cares more about avoiding injuries than winning the game. |
