Collin's Good Backup nothing more

Collins should take a look at what's out there... but somehow I doubt there will be much of a market for a 36 year old QB who did play well in limited action this year, but is still probably viewed as a career backup around the league and not much else. I think Danny will take care of him and he'll be back as our #2 next year.

Is anyone else almost relieved that Collins played poorly? I mean I certainly wanted us to win and for him to do well, but I'm just trying to find the silver lining.

I was absolutely dreading another QB controversy in this upcoming season. In my mind Campbell is the undisputed starter and leader of this team. I guess I was picture Collins coming in and taking us to a Super Bowl or NFC Championship and then there'd be all this controversy over who to start next year.

Hopefully we'll pick up where we left off with Jason. Collins has proven an excellent, reliable #2 QB in this system and I sure hope we do everything to keep him around to mentor Jason and fill in as needed.

Hopefully for once this team can begin training camp without the media all torn over the QB spot.

Everytime Collins dropped back and had time, you knew he was going to do something special. I really believe that if we came in with a healthy O-line next year, we might want to give Collins a shot. The guy is a playmaker from what I've seen. Did anyone else have that feeling that when Collins had the ball, we were always a threat to score?

I do hear what you're saying and I've had similar thoughts the past few days. I think we were able to gain some valuable perspective with the way the Seattle game went. Collins is not Superman, but he is certainly a quality backup and someone we can rely on in a pinch.

A healthy offensive line, and this isn't even up for debate. Seattle exploited the Skins offensive line, and they paid dearly for it. Plain and simple, Collins did not have ample time to execute the offense, which lead to mistakes. When he had time, Collins looked great. However, it's no big mystery that he's quite immobile, and Seattle made him move around an awful lot.

Whether he'll be back as Campbell's backup, or goes elsewhere to compete for a starting job, Todd Collins got to show the world what he was capable of going 3-1 in 4 starts. He's proven to be an intelligent guy, and is able to overcome his weaknesses to move the offense down the field. But at 36, he's certainly passed his prime for a team to take a complete chance on, but could be key in grooming a young QB (as Smoot said, Baltimore may just come calling) if he goes elsewhere.

I'm not hearing a lot people giving the Seattle defense any credit for exposing the poor Redskin offensive line performance and causing poor decisions by Todd Collins down the stretch. The Seahawk defensive line played a tremendous game and deserves a lot of respect. The lack of depth on the offensive line was exposed. Todd Collins weak arm was exposed. Irish comment of keeping Collins as the starter next year is crazy. Collins did a fine job as a replacement, but good teams will exploit his weaknesses. He is a career backup and nothing more. I hope the Redskins don't spend too much money to retain him. They are already paying too much for Mark Brunnel to ride the pine. Jason Campbell is the Redskin quarterback. The only reason to keep Collins is to tutor Campbell.

Seattle did a great job at getting pressure but as I said in another thread I think a lot of that was due to the crowd noise. On a neutral field I don't think it's the same story.

Lack of depth on the OL? Considering we lost 2 key starters and still managed to get to the playoffs to me is a sign that we had some quality depth to hold the ship together the way we did.

a big improvement would be to get a damn good punter with frost i have my doubts and for collins he did a great job filling in and getting us to the postseason.seattle exposed our weakness and it showed.....
