Whoever wrote that article must be smoking a fatty. Why would you turn down an opportunity like this out of fear of failing? That is what life is all about...taking chances.

He makes it sound as if it's impossible to make the Redskins a winner.

I'm not reading anything into this, the source is PFT.com: The article doesn't make good sense IMO!

WILLIAMS WORRIED ABOUT 'SKINS GIG?

There's talk in league circles that Redskins defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who has interviewed twice for a promotion in Washington, is leery about what the job could do to his long-term career interests. Williams, who turns 50 later this year, has already been fired once as a head coach. If it doesn't work out in Washington, he'll be a two-time loser (of course, that didn't hurt Norv Turner or Wade Phillips).

As we hear it, Williams is worried that the inability of Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs to have greater success could mean that it will be near-impossible for a guy who doesn't have a bust in Canton for coaching to get it done.

At a deeper level, the reality is that Gibbs had the clout to overcome V.P. of football operations Vinny Cerrato and, if necessary, owner Dan Snyder. Williams wouldn't get the same degree of deference.

This is just plain retarded. Granted, Gibbs was bulletproof in his second tenure because of his previous success. But fans and players alike seem to really love Gregg Williams. What on earth is he worried about? It's not like Gibbs set some ridiculously high standard in his second stint. There's no question that the Skins vacancy is the best in the NFL (unless Dungy steps down). We have a team that has bonded and strong personnel on both sides of the ball.

I hope he considers these guys and does not just use them to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

He will probably "consider" them in the future if Williams fails as coach

Heres another update from JLC's blog. All signs are pointing towards GW. I really hope this gets done sooner than later. Its good to hear that GW and Snyder are interacting well.

Williams, Washington's assistant head coach -- defense the last four seasons, remained the front-runner after his lengthy formal interview at Snyder's home Monday and another productive session with management Tuesday, NFL executives said. Williams has interacted well with Snyder and team executives in numerous meetings since Gibbs unexpectedly resigned as coach and team president on Jan. 8, league sources said, moving forward in a search that could be completed soon.

Wow! It says he's had four interviews now. What could they possibly be doing?

Whatever it is, it sounds like the job is his. I wonder what the Mora interview is for. Others have suggested that sometimes these interviews are to pick the guys brains for info. Im not questioning the validity of that possibility, but it seems odd that Mora would give up valuable info to a team he most likely wont coach for.

Also, I think that is worded funny when they say they've "interacted well." It sounds like a preschool report card.

I think the quicker we announce him coach the better. The players will feel better when all of the rumors are done.
