I think the OC before HC moves bodes well for GW getting the nod. He could have easily already given Snyder his input on this hire.

All the hiring of Bill Cower would do is open up that pandora's box of high expectations in hopes of buying a SB victory, a theory simular to the return of Joe Gibbs. I would like to see a young, creative and inovative coach with the potential for staying power to develop this team into a consistent winner. I'm a firm believer in the the old saying "you have to crawl before you walk". It should be the ultimate goal of every team to get too, and win the SB, but there's a process needed to be utilized in order to accomplish that goal, being short on patience and basic structure will not get it done. No ore short cuts and quick fixes as substitutes for long term stability. SmootSmack 01-26-2008, 04:39 PM To be honest I cannot understand the complete and absolute facination with Bill Cower. Who knows what is really going on in that egomaniacs head though? SBXVII 01-26-2008, 05:04 PM This wonderful theory could be true but Zorn was hired for 3 yrs which means we will be paying him after next year unless he decides to skip back to Seatle.(resign). Hail to the Redskins 01-26-2008, 07:11 PM Then why not keep Williams and the fire him if he had a bad year? I think your theory is wrong. Because Gregg Williams had said when he signed his contract as DC that he wanted a guarantee to be HC when Gibbs left... I do't think he was going to stay as just DC for a some new HC. Also... Snyder wouldn't go with him as HC, because if we have a good season under him, how would he explain firing him after one successful season for Cowher? and I should say... I don't like any of this theory personally... if we wanted to go "young" and "fresh", then Snyder would have waited to go hard after McDaniels from the Patriots for OC and Spagnulo from the Giants for DC. Zorn and Blache are not young, fresh guys. I truly think that there is a fairly decent possibility that Cowher will be courted after this year... They would have gone after two coordintors of the two best teams for a lateral movement? And the Giants/Pats would have let them? Why are we waiting until after the SuperBowl to hire a HC, could we be considering one of these guys perhaps? And if we are, is this not a youth movement? And would Snyder plausibly give up on the "youngster" after just one year? My point: There are alot of holes in your argument. Anything could happen of course, including Cowher next year (though I doubt it), but the reasons you've used to argue make no sense. SmootSmack 01-26-2008, 08:11 PM I don't remember Williams ever saying he wanted a gaurantee he'd be named HC WillH 01-26-2008, 08:13 PM I remember something to that effect, hense the rumor of the stipulation in his contract. But I couldn't say for sure. Hail to the Redskins 01-26-2008, 08:46 PM Oh yeah? They would have gone after two coordintors of the two best teams for a lateral movement? Anything could happen of course, including Cowher next year (though I doubt it), but the reasons you've used to argue make no sense. First... Let me explain what I meant was that I don't see what's going on a "youth" or "fresh" movement... After posting it, I realized that those 2 wouldn't take lateral movements anyway, but I was just trying to get at the fact that I don't think the idea right now is "long term" ... I think there is a strong possibility that the idea is what do we do with 2008 until Cowher is available? and Second... More than one reputable source said that there was a guarantee in GW's contract... although now, 3 years later, for the first time someone said that wasn't true. |
