If he was really "lurking over his shoulder" wouldn't he have continued to do the same then when Collins stepped in for Campbell?
Update: Saunders Signs Deal with Rams to be OCSmootSmack 01-28-2008, 11:25 PM If he was really "lurking over his shoulder" wouldn't he have continued to do the same then when Collins stepped in for Campbell? SouperMeister 01-28-2008, 11:26 PM Good Riddance Al Saunders and your 700 page playbook.I TOTALLY disagree with all the ridicule of Saunders and his playbook. It worked in KC with completely MEDIOCRE receivers (Tony Gonzalez aside). We saw the real Al Saunders offense when Todd Collins butchered opposing defenses the last four games of the regular season. Mark these words - Al's offense has worked everywhere else, and he will kick ass in St Louis. Beemnseven 01-28-2008, 11:28 PM People can bash Saunders all they want but he never got to run the offense the way he wanted. Not with conservative Joe lurking over his shoulder. Everyone saw how well it works once Collins got in there. With Al and most likely Colllins gone who is our back-up? Brunell? Sigh....... Yeah, it did seem as though Gibbs had Saunders on a pretty tight leash. I would have liked to have seen Al with complete control to do whatever he wanted. Oh well. Not my decision to make. I maintain that with Zorn there will be an overhaul with the 2nd and 3rd string QBs. Probably a 'West Coast' vet and a a late round draft pick to develop. Brunell should have started packing his bags as soon as Gibbs did. Beemnseven 01-28-2008, 11:31 PM I TOTALLY disagree with all the ridicule of Saunders and his playbook. Hell, he STILL had mediocre receivers in Washington -- and yes, that includes Santana Moss -- only this time, he didn't have the time to groom a QB who could run it effectively. Drift Reality 01-28-2008, 11:39 PM Good Riddance Al Saunders and your 700 page playbook. Why all the hate for Saunders? I think it is sort of funny that so many people are quick to condemn people who leave this organization. I have a funny feeling Saunders is going to have their offense in the top-10 in '08 with the tools he has there. dgack 01-28-2008, 11:53 PM I love how there's all this nasty, venomous talk about Saunders now that he's been run out of town, but yet, when Collins stepped in and we started winning, everyone was talking about how we'd finally turned the corner on the "700 page playbook". As if it's better to have a playbook that's small enough to fit on a wristband or something. Seriously, here's a guy who did the best he could to get this offense going, never made nasty comments to the media, threw players under the bus, etc... just an all around professional, and guys are saying crap like "don't let the door hit ya"... it's so lame. KLHJ2 01-29-2008, 01:20 AM I wanted to keep AL for continuity purposes. The offense hasn't been that bad in the last season and was great during the last 4 games. I hope he does well in STL if that is where he ends up. I just pray that our offense does not return to the lathargic state it was in the past 3 of 4 years. Hey we could always run the Wing-T skinsfan69 01-30-2008, 09:25 AM If he was really "lurking over his shoulder" wouldn't he have continued to do the same then when Collins stepped in for Campbell? You don't honestly believe that Al got to do things his way do you? He was an outsider from day one. MTK 01-30-2008, 09:29 AM Yeah, it did seem as though Gibbs had Saunders on a pretty tight leash. Brunell should have started packing his bags as soon as Gibbs did. Collins is definitely done here and so is Brunell. I think it's retirement time for ol' MB. We'll definitely pick up a veteran QB with WC offense experience to be the #2. |
