The only exception to the rule involves the super bowl. Playoff seeding is irrelevent, yet the winner of the bowl picks 32 and the loser 31 no matter what. Percentage points on strenghth of schedule should not matter it should be similar to the tiebreakers for making the playoffs and identical records should be broken by playoff seeding or Sched. for non playoff teams and NFC vs AFC tiebreakers.
The Pats won the SB in the 2001 season. If they would have lost to Oakland like they were about to, than we would of had the 23rd pick in the draft instead of 32nd..would we still have taken Patrick Ramsey?? I agree 20/21 is not a huge difference but who knows...

We pick 21st for a reason, dont argue with it... Sean is with us in all ways possible.

It didn't make sense to me at first but I think you're right. If both teams have the same amount of wins then on paper the Skins would be the "better" team since they had a harder schedule...
Can you imagine a division switch? We'd be maybe 11-5, and they'd be 6-10.

didn't this used to be a coin flip situation?
or is that the supplemental draft?
I'm not really knowledgeable on this draft order stuff....but dont teams that tie switch positions in subsequent rounds?
IE...do the skins have a better 2nd rounder than the bucs?
it shifts each round.
say three teams are 10-6 (Team A, B, and C)
in round 1, A picks first, then B, then C
in round 2 it's B, then C, then A
in round 3 it's C, then A, then B
etc...

The Redskins pick 21st, one selection after the Buccaneers who are in the 20th spot. The teams both went 9-7 but from what I understand tie breaker is strenghth of schedule Bucs .469 Skins .555. The league should adjust this format. The Bucs beat us in the regular season, won their division, and were a higher seeded playoff team and they get to select above us in the first round of the draft. The frist 2 tiebreakers should be head to head and playoff seeding.
Good point

Here’s the rule (http://images.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakers) from NFL.com:
TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE FOR SELECTION MEETING
If two or more clubs are tied in the selection order, the strength-of-schedule tie breaker is applied, subject to the following exceptions for playoff clubs:
1. The Super Bowl winner is last and the Super Bowl loser next-to-last.
2. Any non-Super Bowl playoff club involved in a tie shall be assigned priority within its segment below that of non-playoff clubs and in the order that the playoff clubs exited from the playoffs. Thus, within a tied segment a playoff club that loses in the Wild-Card game will have priority over a playoff club that loses in the Divisional playoff game, which in turn will have priority over a club that loses in the Conference Championship game. If two tied clubs exited the playoffs in the same round, the tie is broken by strength of schedule.
If any ties cannot be broken by strength of schedule, the divisional or conference tie breakers, whichever are applicable, are applied. Any ties that still exist are broken by a coin flip.
Basically, the tiebreaker is strength of schedule. There is no adjustment for playoff seeding, only playoff performance. But since both the Skins and Bucs lost in the first round, the tiebreaker applies.
As I interpret the rule, the only occasion that trumps the strength-of-schedule tiebreaker is when two teams have the same winning percentage but Team 1 makes the postseason and Team 2 doesn’t. In that case, Team 2 picks before Team 1 regardless of strength of schedule.
Good pickup on this issue though. Your point is valid. Especially in the first round, a difference of one place in the draft order can make a huge impact.
Let us know what Roger Goodell says in response to your recommendation....

Yeah, it interesting that we beat Dallas by 21, lost to Seattle by 21, and pick 21st. What's next?
