I think it should be noted that Operation Mongoose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Project)was implemented at the insistence of the Kennedy Brothers and was overseen personally by Bobby Kennedy. The extreme pressure they were putting on everyone to get rid of Castro was no doubt a major reason some of the more outlandish ideas were not immediately shot down. Smart people at the agency understood that this was bad news and stayed the hell out of it.

Here is question to the Castro lovers: If Castros' style of government is so good, then why are so many Cubans leaving that great Utopia to come to America, sometimes floating on shelled-out Chevys? This country is so diverse, because those diverse people wanted a better life. How many people emigrate to Cuba for a better lifestyle?

Are there any Castro lovers here, or anywhere for that matter?

One of my good friends from undergrad was and is pretty liberal, but after she visited relatives in Cuba she briefly turned into Bill O'Reilly. She was absolutely appalled by the conditions in Havana, could not believe what a police state is really like, and was basically disgusted with the failed state of Cuba.

It's pretty wild to think how vibrant Cuba was back in the first half of the 20th century. Seems like that was place to be back in the day, smoking SJ9s in the VIP room of La Tropicana while listening to Desi Arnaz rocks the drums
