I personally think Jim Rome is awesome. And I suspect that Carter and Salisbury would be regarded a bit more highly here if not for the "anti-Redskins slant." But there are so many on-air personalities, many of whom are very good.

But I mean it's pretty obvious how it works around here (and across the Internet message board world). When ESPN makes a "mistake" or has something not so nice to say about the Skins we're all over it (look at how many posts there were in the thread about Len P's article about Gibbs after he resigned). When the opposite happens we tend to be pretty quiet (look at how many posts there were in the thread about Clayton's article about Gibbs when he retired).

yea, i agree with that but for me it has nothing to do with the redskins. i just feel like those individuals that i mentioned are arrogant, they have a "in your face" style that really just makes me not like them.

Let's see, Salisbury took pics of his junk and sent them to co-workers, started every sentence with "there's no question," "I'll tell ya another thing," or "there's no doubt in my mind," and personally insulted on-air the best football analyst the network has. Plus he was a lousy pro player. And then he asked for a 7 figure salary for his "expertise?" The guy is a classic meathead. I never watched a clip of him and felt more enlightened or informed after he was done running his mouth. Bye Salisbury. Don't let the doorknob hit ya.

And they replace him with Chris Carter? Ick. Clayton and Jaworski are the only two NFL guys on that network worth a damn IMO. As much as I like Schlereth for his Redskins affiliation, he could be more of a meathead than Salisbury. SmootSmack, throw on a suit and come out of the production room! Your network needs you!

Salisbury to me is almost the exact opposite of Darrell Green. Let me explain. You've all heard me talk about how it's been my experience that (as much as I love Green the player) he is not what his public persona makes him out to be.

Salisbury is the same way. He comes across as a complete jerk on air, and he can be a pretty loud guy off camera. But he works (worked) hard and is very approachable. Sometimes I feel like he tried to keep a persona up on-air that completely backfired.

As a sports fan, I'm not so upset that he's gone but as a colleague? Yeah he did some pretty awful things but overall he wasn't an ass on a regular basis. Unfortunately, there are several people who-surprising to many-are.

Rumor is FOX Sports has made him an offer

Glad to hear that he isn't what most people perceive. But when you're on TV, the way you act on TV is how you'll be judged by the public. And rumors of sending around pics of your package doesn't help with your peers OR the public. Hopefully he'll learn from whatever mistakes he made at ESPN and find success elsewhere.

Freaking offseason. Sean Salisbury has a five page thread and only 3 or 4 people are posting in the most important section of the forum.....NFL Draft Central.

That's why I've been largely absent for a few weeks. There's only so much I can talk about in the offseason (at least before the start of free agency and the draft) before my eyeballs bleed from boredom.

Although I don't always agree with him I thought Salisbury was pretty entertaining on TV. I would rather listen to him then a so called nice guy who can't spit out an inteligent sentence.

Your Green comments don't surprise me. I went to training camp for a week every year back in the 80's. Of all their top players Green was consistently among the most unapproachable. I wouldn't go as far as rude, but just not as open as the rest.

Never knew that about Sean, though I did hear that he was friends off camera with Jon Clayton, and their rivalry was just a guy thing.

However I don't know what to think about Green anymore. I keep on hearing about how he's a jerk off the field which is surprising, and some even say that Dieon is a nicer guy off the field but thats another story.

I will say this though, I went to Art Monk football camp, and I was amazed at how quiet the guy was. Half the time he would be just walking around and every now and then people would come up to him and small talk or ask for an autograph. To be honest he reminds me of Tony Dungy. If anything though I'm glad he's in the hall.
