EternalEnigma21 03-07-2008, 04:52 PM I've been to Panama City Beach a couple of times as a kid, but havent been back. I'm going to do some research on the economy, but it looks like with the cash down we'll have we can get a nicer house there... maybe even a pool!
724Skinsfan 03-07-2008, 05:05 PM Tampa...ahh, yes...Ybor City. Brings back some pleasant memories...
BDBohnzie 03-07-2008, 05:06 PM I guess the question to ask is would you rather ski in the Rockies, or swim in the warm waters of the Gulf?
Here's a decent site, with different lists of how places rank in terms of housing, jobs, crime, etc.
Best Places to Live 2007 - Money Magazine (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2007/)
Oh yeah...Florida = no state income tax.
jbcjr14 03-07-2008, 05:57 PM Tampa is a great place and right now is a GREAT time to buy real estate in certain parts of FL with the latest "market correction". Ybor City...wow, I get a headache just thinking about that place :-).
I have been to Denver several times as well and really liked it there. The views and people are very nice and the city is clean. I don't know about housing or the job market.
Denver and Tampa are two pretty good places if you have to pick up and move. Good luck with your decision!
firstdown 03-07-2008, 09:15 PM Well you will get to see the skins play once a year at our annual Tampa game.
FRPLG 03-07-2008, 10:57 PM thanks. After speaking with the family last night, its up to me. We can either go to Denver, Tampa, or some city in Germany I have not enough interest in to learn the name. I'm actually leaning towards tampa. We will have a bit of a nest egg, and my wife is registered with several asset companies that are nationwide, so she can still get business, and I can always go back to being a greaseball lying sack of shit car salesman if I need some dough ;)
I am a big FLA fan and a HUGE Gulf side fan/ Water is warm and life amore laid back. Tampa is basically just like any other city but hell you live at the beach basically. You can drive up and down the Gulf coast and find some of the nicest beaches in the world.
Biggest draw back...Snow Birds. November to April traffic gets a little slower with all the oldies clogging up the roads. Tampa probably doesn't get hit too hard with this though. We were close to moving there about 3 years ago and if the right opportunity came up I bet we'd do it.

Tampa is nice...I usually travel there once a year (my best friend lives in Fort Myers, FL). My only problems with Tampa is the massive amount of immigrants, and hurricanes...and I was in North Fort Myers when hurricane Charley hit. Other than that, I like the area. It's even close to Orlando, which is great place too.
ps- you can't really swim in most of the waters out there in Tampa...they either have a massive amount of Aligators, or they have a lot of sharks...once a year a school of 50-200 sharks gather right around Tampa. It usually makes the news, and the papers,...you can see it from the sky.
Either way, you'll make a good choice. If you like mild weather, Tampa is your place.
Campbell17 03-08-2008, 12:34 AM Move to Denver, life isnt as fast there. Buy yourself a pair of skis, take lessons and never look back. Denver is from what I have heard a nice place to live, and it has a relatively low crime rate. Safety and skiing perfect.

Well alligators don't live in ocean waters and the shark issue is over blown.
Anyone going to a beach in Tampa would have a MUCH higher chance of dying in a car accident on the way there and I doubt anyone goes swimming in the swamps where the alligators are.
dmek25 03-08-2008, 08:25 AM tuna, i was in Tampa over thanksgiving, and would move there in a heart beat. beautiful weather, lots to do ( channel-side, ybor city, all kinds of sports, and concerts) very nice people. and St Petersburg beach is one of the nicest in the country. i went swimming when i was there, no problems. and my friends been there 18 years, and only had issues with one hurricane.
