I had a light tint added to mine the day after it bought it. I went for the 30% tint. Lets in light but keeps things dark enough so that I can still bang a few hookers without getting caught. Also, In california you cannot tint the driver or passenger windows. If you go to dark here, You will get a fix it ticket and have to have it removed. EEich 03-20-2008, 08:41 AM Add some spinners and a huge subwoof and you'll be the biggest cop magnet in upstate NY. Smooter 03-20-2008, 09:42 AM I'm getting a new Ford Fusion in the next few days and I'm thinking of getting the windows tinted. Do you guys think it's a douchebag look or is it cool? The car is black, so I'm thinking the black on black might look sweet. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check your local laws and see what % visibility is legal in your state. In Oklahoma tint laws are practically non existent and I've only seen a few cases of people getting tickets when they've tinted their front windshield which is obviously a big no no. I've driven around for about 2 years with 5% tint and haven't even been looked at twice by a cop. Anyways, as far as whether or not to do it I think you should. It makes it much nicer in the summer (especially if you have leather), added privacy is sweet if your a nose picker, and visually they make a car look much better in my opinion. I bet if you look on www.cardomain.com you can probably find someone who has a Fusion with tinted windows to give you an idea what it will look like. I have a black galant with tint I could post a pic of if you want. Good luck with it man. KLHJ2 03-20-2008, 09:52 AM I have Black on Black and it looks good IMO. It sucks though because I got pulled over in DC because it was too dark. Cannot drive that particular vehicle in DC again (without huge fine). I refuse to remove it. Here is a little something to help you stay legal New York Window Tint Law - TintCenter.com (http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/NY/) cpayne5 03-20-2008, 09:59 AM NY laws state that tint must allow more than 70% of light to pass through (front and rear). This is very strict. Here in VA, the laws are (50%/35%). I run 35% on my vehicles and have had no problems with the cops here. You should check with other people in your area that have tint to see if the cops generally leave them alone. It's a risk getting "illegal" tint, but a lot of the time the cops really don't care as long as the windows are not completely black. :) I just bought a black on black vehicle, too, Matty. I plan to put 35% front and rear to keep it cool in the summer. There is actually a point where tint darkness absorbs more heat than it blocks, and actually makes your car hotter, so don't go too dark. Hog1 03-20-2008, 10:26 AM Hmmm...........MKDiddy?? Not only that, if you don't have a high profile (like my brother who drives a dropped WRX with rims) and in general are a good driver, they have better things to do than hassle you. cpayne5 03-20-2008, 11:07 AM Not only that, if you don't have a high profile (like my brother who drives a dropped WRX with rims) and in general are a good driver, they have better things to do than hassle you. Yeah, they'll leave you alone as long as you don't have limo tint and 22's. :D Monkeydad 03-20-2008, 11:55 AM It will look great. You'll also be a lot cooler in the summer, temp-wise. ;) | |
