And I'd say a good majority of PJ fans probably lean to the left anyway.
Well I don't agree with much of what Mr. Vedder has to say about politics...but that doesn't stop me from liking the music. In my opinion, "Black" is probably a top 5 song of the 1990s

All this talk about politically active artists brings up a good issue.
How much do youi all care about political the stances of artists?
I long ago decided not to care since I disagreed with so many of them. I figured I'd be spending too much time trying to figure out which movies and songs I was allowed to like based on their political views. I don't have the time or energy for that stuff. I don't agree almost at all with most of what Vedder believes but I still like their sound, adore several of their songs, and think they get shafted in the Nirvana/Pearl jam debates. They are WAY BETTER than Nirvana in my opinion. I love 'em and don't care what they think.
In general though what do you all think?
I feel if they want to speak out that's their right and I don't have to agree if I don't want to. I don't base my opinion of their music or of them as an artist based on what their political views are.
As for the Nirvana/PJ comparisons I don't think there even should be one. Yes they both came from Seattle and helped to usher in the whole grunge movement but other than that they really don't have much else in common musically.

I think that's an interesting topic, that probably deserves its own thread

Ah yes, that is a great song. My favorite song is Alive. I still have that ranked #1 from the 90's.

I think Black is essentially the anthem for grunge rock in the 90's. Sorry Teen Spirit but you suck. Black kicks your ass.

I do wonder where Nirvana would be today had Cobain not killed himself / been killed.
