Why is there so much interest in WR with the 1st?

We can better serve ourselves if we pick in positions where the talent is deep. There aren't any surefire WRs coming out in this years draft anyway so we should be able to get our hit or miss prospect with our later picks.

With the WCO your WR's don't need to be talent superstars as is evident with the Eagles offense the past 5 years. If we pick a guy who fits the scheme in the later rounds we'll be fine.

I tend to agree that a WR or a CB in the first round isn't really necessary. Personally i would go OL. I would target Chad or Anquan to fill the WR spot, and go after a CB in the later rounds.

I really believe Sweed will be the premier WR coming out in this draft. The Skins have not had success drafting WR early, but if Limus Sweed is available I just don't see how they can not draft him, he's a stud.

I've seen quite a few services rate Sweed in the 2nd round. Maybe they think they can get him there. Don't think he'll fall that far though.

I know they've said that WR is a major priority, but they've got bigger issues. DE, CB, and OL could all possibly be addressed first. Or maybe they believe that Cincy will eventually trade Johnson. I'm looking forward to seeing what Mix is capable of.

Depending on how the Skins rate the players, if one or more receivers that they like drops to the second round they do have the juice to trade up and get into the top part of that frame. By the value chart if they packaged their 2nd (51) and 3rd (84) that would take them into the 32-38 range (technically it takes them to 34, but you need a willing trade partner too). So if Malcom Kelly, Limas Sweed, or James Hardy drops from the first, and they like any of those guys, they could move up to get them. At this point I think Devin Thomas is the only one I'd be really happy about drafting in the 1st.

I like Hardy and Sweed, but Vinny seems to like Hardy alot.

Screw that. If the Skins take Hardy over Nelson I'll be pissed. I don't care if Hardy is a "first round talent." For everyone here that doesn't like Chris Henry, think twice about supporting a guy like that. Nelson is a character guy that produced in college, and is known as a hard worker. All we need is a guy to compliment Moss and Cooley and personally Nelson is perfect for that role. If anything I would see him getting 500 yards for us next year with regular 800 yard seasons down the line, including maybe a strech of 1,000 yard seasons.

I just think we could do so much better drafting linemen with our top picks in general. I'd be a big advocate of really gearing our 1st rounders from here on out towards linemen only with a QB thrown in every 5-7 years as needed and a CB every 4 years maybe. It just that the other skill position players seem so much easier to come by via FA than linemen. I might puke if we draft a WR. We can get a comparable WR in 2 or 3 I'd bet.

Defensive Lineman are hardly shoe in's. In my opinion the safest picks in any draft are linebackers, saftey's, and offensive lineman. After that it's Defensive Lineman, Cornerbacks, Wide Reciever, and Quarterback. In fact the difficulty of drafting quality defensive lineman might be the reason why Merling gets passed up by the Vikings, since they've had trouble with their own pair of first round defensive ends in Udeze and James. The Chiefs also have had mixed results drafting D-Lineman in that they missed with Sim's but hit with Hall.

I guess in the end it all depends as to what your situation is.
