I saw this on TV a year or so back. They help the elephant here and there to get it to use different colors and things. From what I gathered and from what they said the elephant does not really have artistic ability but does know how brush paint on a canvas. The more they helped the better the paintings so while it is true that the elephants paints that about all it really is about.

My dad work's for the company that owns Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey, and we get free tickets, and in the beginning of each show they get an elephant to paint, or draw something, they aren't that bad. So I wouldn't doubt it if it were real.
I'll have to admitt that when I was younger we would go to the circus RB & BB. I have sense decide that in todays world this is an out dated and cruel to the animals. If they would remove the animals and just do the tricks and stuff I love to take my daughter. I hunt and fish so I'm not one of those PETA types but I do back them in this situation.

You know what happens to the elephants that retire? They don't kill them, they put them on this like 100-150 acre farm kinda place int Florida, and take care of them until they pass away.

Yea right sure they do........ That's just what your Dad told you so you would fall asleep as a kid. ;)

Nineteen elephants—three of them babies—have died at the hands of Ringling Bros. over the last decade alone.

Back on topic, that elephant has mad skills with a paint brush! It's really amazing when you think about it. I saw the same thing on TV a while back so I'm pretty sure it's legit.

It's not a hoax but to me it isn't impressive. If you all would read the posts above you would see the elephant is not create. It memorizes one painting. That is it. It does not know what it is drawing it is simply drawing. Great it memorize but noting crazy.

I'm sure its like one of those golf resorts that our grand parents move to in FL. when they retire. Sorry you can defend them all you want but its just not right the way they are treated and the conditions they have to live.
