mooby 04-22-2008, 11:04 PM Yep see it for yourself. Nothing up on ESPN though, probably will be soon. I'm curious to see what the Chiefs got for him. And now the Vikings have one of the most formidable d-lines in the league. This has draft implications too because now the Chiefs could be the market for Chris Long at #5 if he falls to them. This is a good thing for the Redskins too because it means the Vikings won't be looking for a DE at #17, if that pick goes to the Chiefs now, and that means one less suitor for Derrick Harvey, who I would love to pick if he fell to the Redskins at #21.
On the other side of the fence though, this could mean that the Chiefs take Matt Ryan at #5 and try to get a defensive end to replace Allen at #17, meaning they could be in the running to take Derrick Harvey at #17 too.

I really hope they go for Long at #5, especially since that would increase the chances of them taking a QB at 17. Or they could take a falling OT and then trade back up into the 1st to get a QB, though I would prefer the former, as the Chiefs grabbing a QB would create a scarcity mind set among QB needy teams like the Ravens and the Bears.
Of course the Ravens might be gun shy after their last trade up to take a QB backfired with Kyle Boller and the Bears don't trade up.
Now that I think about hopefully the Chiefs grab an OT at 17 and then trade back into the 1st. Personally I'm relying on the other teams being scared that the Dolphins might take the QB prospect of their choice, plus Parcells likes to trade down, not up.
Oh yeah, it's looking more and more like the Falcons will take Ryan with Dorsey currently being projected to end up in St. Louis.
Also interesting side note: Long might not go to the Raiders at 4 because apparently his father Howie has a strained relationship with owner Al Davis and on top of that Davis loves the measureables that a guy like Gholston brings to the table.

There's the link from ESPN.
WaldSkins 04-22-2008, 11:47 PM Wow i thought we were stupid for offering a first and a third for Johnson. But three picks in this draft for a good DE. Its not like there dline was terrible. Doesnt the Vikings have more pressing needs then a DE, i dont know like OL, WR, and QB??

I can't believe they gave up so much for a guy with a long history of legal troubles. He's a great talent, but he's got baggage....and the type of baggage that oftentimes rears its ugly head well after it appears to have been resolved.
As for the draft implications, I'm not sure if it affects us at all. With Allen's departure, isn't there a good chance KC will use that extra first rounder to find his replacement? Who is the "#3 DE" in KC?

Who is the "#3 DE" in KC?Not sure who is #3, but they spent a first rounder on Tamba Hali two years ago, and he's been a pretty good player thus far. He inherits the role as the No. 1 end, and I think he will do well in that role.

At least the Redskins are trading for an area they need to improve. I mean unless the Vikings are giving up on their offense and become the 2000 Ravens
