He's going to be 31 in august. It just goes to show you that RB's really do hit a wall when they turn 30.

Not Tiki......!

Shaun Alexander isn't Tiki Barber. They may look alike but it's simply not true. And besides, Tiki is the exception to the rule.

Alexander had a pretty classy statement regarding his release:

"I want to thank the Seahawks and Holmgren for all they have done for me and my family over the years," Alexander said. "I have nothing but respect and affection for the Seahawks staff, my teammates and the organization. I wish them the best."

"I especially want to thank the Seahawks fans," he said. "You made me feel proud every time I stepped on the field as a member of the Seahawks. I look forward to hopefully returning to Qwest Field one day to play against the Seahawks.

"We have made far too many wonderful friends to say goodbye. My family will remain in the Seattle area, and when my days in the NFL do eventually come to an end, I plan to retire here. Our hearts are woven into the fabric of this community, we are blessed to be part of it, and we enjoy contributing to it in every way we can."

"Thank you Seattle."

No one ever accused Alexander of having no class.
I couldn't imagine a better worded farewell statement.

Alexander as a person and a player is a class act, I just felt he was, as a player and on a talent level, a little overrated. see previous post.

How come whenever a player is released some people in these forums automatically want the Redskins to pick them up?? Honestly, why do people do that??
We have Clinton Portis...Ladell Betts...Rock...and up and coming Mason who will turn some heads this year...why would you want dead weight like Shaun Alexander on the team? It isn't a position of ANY need. I would rather have a backup DE or OL at the veteran minimum instead of an aged runningback whose better days are far behind him. We have one of the best running back corp's in the league...why would you want to mess with that chemistry. Picking him up would send a bad message to the team.

I would certainly agree with your revised statement.
Which is why in another thread I posed the possible notion of trading Portis for McFadden.

ps- how come you didn't make a comment on the A5 in that BMW thread I started?Though, on a purely personnel standpoint, I would trade Portis for McFadden straight up, I think you should also include the fact that trading Portis right now would cost the Redskins 20 million dollars in dead cap, 16 million dollars of that in 2009 dead cap.

16 million. 2009 dead cap. Remember, Lloyd is going to cost the team 5 million in dead cap next season.

It's totally implausible from a financial standpoint. Perhaps we can put that one on Vinny, but again, no one was really ever considering dealing Portis for McFadden in the first place.

You are new so I will let you in on some advise:

GET USED TO IT. also, mentioning it will do nothing b/c for every rational thinking Skins fan out there (like you, as I assume) there are three Madden playing retards who think we should pick up every big name or potential big name FA out there. Try doing a thread search on any big name FA that is out there. I dare you.

The reason for this posting was that when a player gets released and you have a coaching staff familiar with that player, you always have a chance of picking a player you know. The Redskins don't need him but you know who runs the team and who's to say what Dan/Vinny are thinking, they could pull a bone head move and trade Betts (people have mentioned it on this board and news). I know he's not the player he was but with Danny going with the "big" name to fill the seats you never know.
