Sheriff Gonna Getcha 04-27-2008, 08:38 PM From a value standpoint, I think we got an A for day 1 and a B- for day 2. I liked how we repeatedly traded down for more picks. I also like that our offense is loaded at the skill positions. But, I am nervous about the lack of depth along the D-line and O-line. I'd give us a B+ for value and a B/B- for filling perceived needs.

Well we supposedly signed four unrestricted free agent OL and two DL. Let's see who they are first. But even still, if we're talking about depth. That's not bad. That's basically how we got Wilson (to some extent), Heyer, and Alexander last year. Not to mention Marshall and Pierce in previous years
skinsfan69 04-27-2008, 08:43 PM I gave it a C. I just didn't see the need to get 2 wr's at the top. For some reason this FO has a hard on for WR's and I just don't understand why. They show it time and time again. First getting Lloyd and ARE at the same time and now this. Why couldn't we have drafted Merling, Kelly or Thomas and Davis?? That way you take care of a HUGE need a DE plus you add a young wr. I didn't have a problem with Davis cause he could be a factor in the red zone. I like the 3rd round pick getting a guard cause we needed a young guy in the mix.
The Goat 04-27-2008, 08:44 PM Value Grade: A+ (possibly the highest value of all 32 teams)
Needs Grade: B- (at this point we have the exact same d-line as 07, with one high potential addition on the o-line)
Overall: A-/B+ depending on what happens this season. If some combination of injuries occur between Kendell, RT, and JJ a lot of fans and analysts will be saying "how in the hell could Washington not address the line w/ all of FA and draft to work with." If the line stays healthy and our offense explodes like it should now the FO will be hailed as geniuses.

But what if Moss and ARE had gotten hurt? Like they did this past year
WOW!!!
No wonder the redskins never draft: we suck at it. I'll admit Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly were decent picks but what the heck do we need Fred Davis for we have Cooley and Yoder (who makes some pretty good catches in the clutch). We should have pick a D-lineman instead of Davis (Groves, Campbell, Thomas, Jones and Ellis were still availible). We had depth issues at linebacker that were not addressed. We could have gotten Marcus Howard, who is versitile enough to play linebacker and defensive end (almost an exact clone of Marcus Washington) but instead we trade away our fifth round pick and Indy snags him. Why would we go with Chad Rinehart of N. Iowa when Mike McGlynn was still availible. McGlynn brings more experience from playing better opponents in the Big East than Rinehart who played in some community college division at Northern Iowa. We wasted a pick on a punter when Derrick Frost did a tremendous job this season. I agree with the selection of Colt Brennan. We definately could use a young backup quarterback (especially one like Brennan who, unlike Campbell doesn't throw late game interceptions that causes us to lose).
Overall the draft was very pathetic and disappointing and I rate it as a D only because of the selections of Thomas, Kelly and Brennan.

There are so many flaws with this argument that it's not worth wasting time responding to, so I hope no one does.
Warren85Ellard 04-27-2008, 08:57 PM Joe Bugel will turn Rinehart into a pro-bowler. At least, that's what I'm hoping. I was a little perplexed by the first three picks, but I think they addressed our biggest problem with Thomas, Davis, and Kelley : red zone scoring. A day later, I love those first three picks. The more weapons, the better.
A lot of people wanted to draft o-line and d-line, which is understandable, but I think the d-line was great against the run last year and the o-line was decent and can only be better with the return of Jansen and Thomas. I really like the punter. The most underrated player on the Giants Super Bowl team was Jeff Feagles. He always seems to give the opposing team bad field position. My only gripe is the selection of Colt Brennan. He seems to have been selected on name alone, kind of like Jordan Palmer. Overall though, I give it a B+.

Colt Brennan hasn't played a down in the NFL so we don't know if he will or won't throw late game INT's. If we go by his last performace against Georgia, and the past history of Qb's that play for June Jones, and his performance at the Senior Bowl, then Brennan isn't going to make it past OTA's.

DC52 does bring up some valid points.
