sweed seems more like a bust... i mean, i don't think any of this year's WRs were locks for pro bowls, but sweed would probably be #7 or 8 on my list, which puts him deep in the 3rd round.

Sweed is somewhat enticing because he is a 4 year senior in the middle of a heavily Junior class, but that wrist injury does make him a less-appealing guy from an experience standpoint.

For now, I'll take Kelly over Sweed, but I'm going to follow Sweed's career closely, he'll be an interesting case study.

I believe that the Redskins probably had Kelly overrated on their own board, but at the spot where they actually drafted him, the only foul was that the need was theoretically filled at that point. The value was excellent.

The thing I hated about Sweed was the fact that he didn't seem to show up in big games, but when he played against the Rice's and North Texas he pwn3d n00bs. Plus thinking of that wrist injury makes me feel uneasy, not his durability, just the idea of a wrist that can't move much but makes cracking noises when it does.

Didn't this guy run the same speed 40 as Jerry Rice? I'm not saying he's going to be Jerry Rice -- what I am saying is straight line speed may not be the best NFL indicator.

While we're on it, can anyone think of a straight line more important then the 40 yard dash?

game speed is the most important thing, when having this conversation. Jerry Rice wasn't the fastest 40 guy, but i cant ever remember him being caught from behind

I think Malcolm Kelly can be a very valuable player for us for a long time and DEFINATELY seems to be a good value pick at 51. Problem is that his speed issues do prevent him from having the potential to develop into a top of the line receiver.

Still, I'm happy we have him.40 yard time is incredibly overrated. Jerry Rice and Cris Carter both ran around 4.7 and they did nothing but make plays. We drafted Taylor Jacobs over Anquan Boldin after Boldin ran a 4.7. I've said it before, and it bears repeating, put more stock in game footage than the combine, film doesn't lie. Had we heeded the Rose Bowl film of Desmond Howard struggling to get off the line against a physical Washington Huskies D, we might have avoided that bust.

Kelly looks great on film and good luck to CBs that try jamming him at the line of scrimmage.
