Arriving in early July, the new "iPhone 3G" will sell for hundreds less than the original and-as expected-will come equipped with GPS and access to AT&T's speedy HSDPA network. Also: A new version of Mac OS X is on the way, along with a major revamp of Apple's .Mac online service.

In todays economy I could not think of a better way to waste money. A cell phone is a cell phone. who needs all that extra crap.

I agree, my phone has text/internet/music capabilities but I only use my phone to call/text, I don't like using the internet on it.

The bargain is that they'll kill you with the service plans (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/atts-iphone-shift-revenue-sharing-eat/story.aspx?guid=%7BD3866A47-6BAF-4ACF-8923-0D1E7D596B2F%7D&dist=msr_1) just as they currently do. The iPhone has by far the worst plans ever and I doubt that's changing anytime soon.

That's actually incorrect, saden. Have you looked at a comparable voice + data + messaging plan for a PDA on AT&T? They are at least $10 more than for the current iPhone (and identical to what the new, 3G iPhone will cost). I'm no Apple fanboy (I've used Windows Mobile for about 4 years now), but one thing that you can't say is that the plans are higher.

Actually, it's $20 more for a PDA/Blackberry, assuming you get the same number of minutes and TXT messages. There may be a bundle that I don't know about to bring it down a little for the PDA/BB option, but it's not going to be cheaper.

This new price point definitely has me interested.

I'm definitely getting the 16gb when they come out. I need to carry something with email for work anyway. I can see if you've never used a PDA before and you don't need it for work. I like being connected, though, so I would get it anyway.

Same here. I'll probably get the 8 gig. I think 16 would be a little overkill for me. My fiance got her Iphone in February and was pissed when she heard the news.
