New Coldplay albumMTK 06-17-2008, 03:29 PM Yeah I heard about that, sounds like a load of crap onlydarksets 06-17-2008, 04:06 PM Yeah I heard about that, sounds like a load of crap At least the other band admitted as much: "Soon after the video blew up, I received a call from Coldplay's manager. They were really nice about the whole thing and explained about their whereabouts and old demos. I guess the song similarities are just a coincidence...great minds think alike? "Anyway, I must have been mistaken about seeing Chris at the show because all British people look the same. I lived in London for six weeks and I seriously thought every third person on the corner was Coldplay." PFunk26 06-18-2008, 01:20 AM So i just bought the new Coldplay and the new Offspring, really enjoying both, the Offsprings new album is way better then their last two. That fact that theres ballads on an Offspring cd is weirding me out though, and Im pretty stoked Hammerhead is a new DLC for Rockband. In reference the the stolen song article its funny how the no name bands versions always suck though. onlydarksets 06-18-2008, 09:51 AM Yeah I heard about that, sounds like a load of crap Or maybe not: Coldplay: "We'll Try and Copy Anyone" - E! Online (http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b143160_coldplay_well_try_copy_anyone.html) Martin says: "We're one of the world's worst—but most enthusiastic—plagiarists as a band. We'll try and copy anything but tend to fail, so we come up with something...that sounds like us—only through trying to sound like somebody else." Obviously he's joking, but the timing is funny. onlydarksets 06-19-2008, 10:27 PM Amazon has it for $1.99 as MP3 downloads: Amazon.com: Parachutes: MP3 Downloads: Coldplay (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SXLL8O/) MTK 06-19-2008, 11:30 PM Amazon has it for $1.99 as MP3 downloads: Amazon.com: Parachutes: MP3 Downloads: Coldplay (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SXLL8O/) good deal but that's not the new one onlydarksets 06-19-2008, 11:50 PM Oops. Is it obvious I don't listen to them at all? MTK 06-20-2008, 08:52 AM lol good try A for effort Schneed10 06-20-2008, 09:43 AM I got my hands on the album yesterday and have listened through it once so far. Viva la Vida is the best song on the album, for me. That track is so good it almost overshadows the others, but tracks 4, 5, and 6 are also very good. Each of those tracks kind of have two songs per track, it's a cool flow. Then I'm a big fan of 8, Violet Hill. It's a good sound, as usual. They're a band with a lot of complexity to their music, so as you listen to it more and more, your ear tends to pick up a lot more of the minor nuances; I think that's why their albums tend to grow on me over time. I don't mean to knock bands like Weezer (who I like) or Panic at the Disco (who I hate; ok I guess I'm knocking them), but their music is so simply constructed and contains so few layers that you get all you're going to get from it just by listening to it once or twice. So I think I've got to listen to Viva la Vida several more times before I pass final judgment. But preliminarily, I'll say it's not quite to the level musically that X&Y was, but it's not too far off. Very good sound from one of the best musical acts in a long time. saden1 07-16-2008, 12:21 AM Never really been a big Coldplay fan but this album is pretty good. Viva la Vida definitely stole the show...with lines like "I know Saint Peter won't call my name" it can't be denied! | |
