I am pretty sure it is the same everywhere, but the good grocery stores here all produce a variety of Sushi daily that is available for purchase for a 5 or 6 bucks for 8-ish pieces. It is not excellent, but not bad and will do if you need a lunch fix

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Don't eat supermarket sushi! It is the worst! Outside of Wegmans of course.
BDBohnzie 07-30-2008, 01:39 PM Giant Eagle has a sushi counter with a sushi chef making it right in front of you. I've never ordered from it but other that have said it's pretty good.
GhettoDogAllStars 07-30-2008, 03:55 PM Yeah I hear that. My sushi partner in crime here at work just left for a new job, but I'm thinking F... it, I'll go eat sushi by myself if I have to. I need it that bad.
I eat sushi by myself all the time, 'cause none of my friends like it. Don't be a wuss ... go for it!
Valleyranchgirl 07-31-2008, 01:17 AM Looks top notch. Pretty slick website too.
I enjoy eating sushi.
GMscud I will probably had to grad school in Gainesville, so I will check out that place next year.
If you or GMscud are ever in Tampa then you have to go to Ichiban in Tampa near USF. Best in town and best I ever had, I always go back.
Best rolls
Matt and Rosey roll- fresh salmon wrapped around rice with volcano topping in the middle delicious.
Volcano roll-the salmon is baked. The topping is on the top. Make sure you get the $10 dollar roll. The $6 dollar roll has the topping inside.
Spicy tuna
Tampa roll, duh its Tampa
Crunchy Baked salmon roll
If you like yellowtail the Karma special is good appetizer
Their Sashimi is awesome too. I have actually had sup par sashimi before but not at Ichibhan.
I am taking a sushi class in August with a friend :). $50 bucks for 2 and half hours.
riggins44 07-31-2008, 05:36 PM I can eat sushi, just not a big fan. Don't see the draw. Personally rather put some shrimp, scallops, tuna, salmon, or soft crab on the grill.
Would like to know if there is anything I'm missing or doing wrong? I do know that
not crazy about raw fish.

Dude, I understand... some of my friends I can't drag to a sushi joint if they're life depended on it... some people just can't do raw.
I guess sushi lovers have a palette that has taken to the uniqueness of raw fish... taste and texture are completely different than cooked. As much as the quality of fish, your sushi eating experience depends just as much as the chef's skill level... he/she makes all the difference in the world.
Honestly, I really wasn't into sushi until I got into college and was introduced properly... until that point, I'd been thinking sushi was all spicy tuna and california rolls (didn't really see what all the fuss was about). Then my fanatical sushi friends took me to my first nigiri spot. Then it was all over.
riggins44 08-01-2008, 04:41 PM I was raised eating seafood and several family members were watermen. Years ago as a kid ate a lot raw oysters and clams. Now with all the polution eating raw seafood worries me.
My concern is how to truely tell difference is sushi or sashimi grade tuna, salmon, etc.
hesscl34 08-01-2008, 05:15 PM sushi - blah, yak, blah.. ugh.. blah.
I'll eat any kind of seafood if it's cooked. Correction, I'll even eat raw oysters and clams. BUT NO WAY DO I EAT RAW FISH!!! ... YUCK!
