i remember watching smoot try to handle punts in training camp a few years back... he dropped about half of them, so it's not like he has the world's best hands either.

Rogers gets in position for interceptions which is more than I can say for much of our secondary. Id rather have picks too, but as far as Im concerned if he's batting down balls on the regular he's doing a good job.

this is a great short article on who can catch the ball better (Smoot or Rogers). The inserted you tube video had me in tears.

Enjoy:

Humorous article - especially Smooty. I'm pretty sure Smoot dropped an easy INT in preseason so he can't run his mouth too far.

Of greater importance in the INT he dropped in the end zone against the Giants last week.

They do have a common bond........neither one can catch or cover very well. Every passing play it seemed like Smoot was a good 4-5 steps away from the receiver. Actually almost every pass seemed to go in his direction.

Watching the ball and not the man?

What a novel concept.

J-Dawg.

Rogers possibly has the worst ball skills of any CB in the league. In last years Week 3 game vs. the NYG, if he reacted to the ball, not the man on the Plax TD, it would have been AT WORST a bat down, if not a pick. He's pretty much just a mirror that tries to reflect what the WR is doing with no regard for the football.

I still cringe at the playoff game in Seattle when Rogers dropped a sure INT and run back for a TD. Such an easy pass to catch also. Anyone else remember that from the 1st Joe Gibbs playoff visit to Seattle?

Rogers definately has no hands, but is Smoot really in a good position to call him out?

Seriously... Smoot gives a ridiculous cushion to every receiver on the field. The only reason he even registered an INT last week is because he was five yards away from any Giants receiver, and Eli made a terrible throw.

Oh, and Rogers brings the wood, while Smoot gets hurt making tackles...

Yeah, and just think, at the time we all chalked that up to rookie jitters... If we only knew!

Rogers at least appears to be improving while Smoot is clearly regressing. I don't think he's starting quality anymore at all. The quicker we can move him back to the nickel the better.
