SmootSmack 09-11-2008, 11:57 AM I will keep this short and sweet.
If I still believed that our role and involvement in Iraq was necessary and we needed a strong Commander in Chief then I would be voting for McCain.
Right now America is in more debt that it ever has been, the value of the dollar is down, and the economy sucks (not to mention the value of my mutual funds). I am voting for Obama to get us out of this mess.
Fact: according to Ali Velshi of CNN "The economy is the strongest with a Democratic president and a Republican Congress"
But we're likely to have a Democratic congress, no? So should we then have a Republican President?
firstdown 09-11-2008, 12:00 PM There's nothing wrong with being liked by your allies. I'm not saying we should take our cues from them but I am stating the obvious. It helps if the people we're dealing with have confidence in our leadership if you feel otherwise you're a sticks only person. If you still don't get it I recommend you read "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (http://www.amazon.com/Habits-Highly-Effective-People/dp/0743269519/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221144568&sr=8-1)."
Well your saying because they like Obama its because they feel they will have covidence in his leadership. It could be just the opposite and they think they can get more stuff over on him then McCain.
saden1 09-11-2008, 12:01 PM I'm sure all those people overseas has our best interest at heart and not their own. If you have not seen the news Biden admitted that Hillary would have made a better VP and I'm sure Obama loved that statement.
Biden: Hillary Clinton ‘Might Have Been a Better Pick’ for VP - America’s Election HQ (http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/10/biden-hillary-clinton-might-have-been-a-better-pick-for-vp/)
He actually stud up for her when she got attacked by a woman by praising her and saying she might be more qualified and would have been better choice. You know what McCain did when she got called a "bitch?"

That's a knock against him if you ask me.
(not saying this is Obama, but the antichrist would be liked by all)
Since we've already suffered through 8 years of a President who was hated all around the world, it might not be a bad idea to go in the other direction.
70Chip 09-11-2008, 12:01 PM It never seems to occurr to people that foreigners don't really want America to succeed. It's like asking me who the Cowboys should hire as their HC. I'd say, "Les Steckel!" or "Gerry Faust!" The difference is, of course, that not even Cowboy fans are stupid enough to make the opinion of an oppossing or disinterested party an argument in favor of anyone.
Let's everyone finish these two sentences:
"If Europeans are so good at judging political leaders, then how come..."
and
"The reason that Hamas wants Baraq Obama to be President is..."
BDBohnzie 09-11-2008, 12:02 PM Surprised no one has pulled this out yet...

I'm undecided at this point, leaning towards Obama. Even with the banter strewn across the Parking Lot, I really haven't done much research. But it's hard to, being a Registered Republican in a state that is dominated by 2 counties and a independent city. I'll get around to it and make an educated choice. But until then, it'll be swell watching the smear ads, and hearing one call the other a snake in the grass, or whatever banter they throw around.
saden1 09-11-2008, 12:04 PM Covey is good stuff. You ever read anything from Ken Blanchard? I'm a big fan of both.
No, never read anything by him. Any particular book recommendation?
No, never read anything by him. Any particular book recommendation?
I would start with
Amazon.com: The One Minute Manager: Kenneth H. Blanchard, Spencer Johnson: Books
I recently read this one:
Amazon.com: Leadership and the One Minute Manager: Increasing Effectiveness Through Situational Leadership: Ken Blanchard, Patricia Zigarmi, Drea Zigarmi: Books
SmootSmack 09-11-2008, 12:10 PM I guess it's too much to ask the candidates to stick to the issues when the people clearly cannot.
Everyone hates the propaganda machine but it obviously works when you see people buying in to the stupidest shit.
Look at us here. We've got saden posting a bunch of YT clips and equating the Republicans with dirty tampons, Buster implying the whole left is a bunch of flag-burners, jsarno clinging to one minor little clip of Obama during the Pledge of Allegiance and saying who knows what about the antichrist, and so on.
And for the most part we're talking about people here who (even if I don't agree with their political beliefs/opinions) have shown they have pretty good knowledge of the actual issues. (Others here, of course, have shown they should just stick to football). Yet it's like no one even cares anymore about anything but belittling the other side. Hopefully, whoever it is that is elected, the country can rally around the new President and put Country First (couldn't resist :) )

I have to disagree. People are people no matter the country, and I happen to think most are honest.
If you were following Britain's election for Prime Minister, and you participated in a similar poll, would you vote for who you think is worst?
