Seems Mike Nolan carries some bitter feelings. If only he just but performed better as a coach.

The part of the article which brings up the distain by Mike Nolan, if you don't want to open the article is -

Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, the Redskins' defensive coordinator from 1997 to 1999, said that he didn't study much film of Sanders as a Redskin, but understood that Sanders had nagging injuries in Washington.

"I believe his strengths have remained the same over time, but my recall on those things is minimal," Nolan said. "I'm very forgiving of anyone who passes through that place."

He's just bitter. The B-More D isn't going to be as great as everyone thinks. You can quote me on that, and if I'm wrong I'll be the first one to admit it.

Eff Mike Nolan. Here are his stats while defensive coordinator in DC:

'97 - 16th (4th pass, 28th run)
'98 - 22nd (3rd pass, 28th run)
'99 - 29th (25th pass, 27th run)

These numbers speak for themselves. Nice job, Mike.

This line kills me: "I'm very forgiving of anyone who passes through that place." If I remember correctly, JCC (and/or son) owned the team while he was there, not The Danny.

and my response to that would be "Who the hell is Mike Nolan?" I don't remember him making that much of a difference to the defense while he was here or he would have lasted longer than he did. Plus when new coaches come in they almost always change nearly all the coaching personel, so he has nothing to bitch about especially with some of the players he has at his disposal right now. or did he expect to be in the running for head coach after turner or something?

Nolan's Defenses stunk when he was our D-Coordinator. Deion is washed up and from what I remember when things got rough in 2000 he simply quit and lacked heart. I think he is a bad seed in the locker room and a cancer that could destroy the chemistry on a decent team.

The Raisins and Billick Buttlick are a bunch of mouthy hot heads. Their lack of self restraint particularly from Orlando Brown knocked them out of last year's playoffs. Not looking ahead or anything but I hope that we beat their asses good when we play them in October.

As far as I'm concerned Deion still owes us back a lot of that signing bonus that Marty and Snyder let him keep. He retired and shouldn't have been entitled to keep what he did.

I HATE DEION AND BALTIMORE.

I'm a huge fan of Deion, have been since he was back at Florida St. I bought his jersey when he signed with the Skins and was a frequent Deion apologist in the old Yahoo group. I think he is the best cornerback I've ever seen play the game, bar none. No one could convince me otherwise, so please don't try now.

However, Deion is fighting forces that he simply cannot defeat, mainly Father Time. The Deion Sanders that played in Washington was so far removed from the weapon he once was that it was almost sad. There were times when it looked like he was hurting us, in particular the Detroit game or "The End of the Turner Era" as I like to call it. In that game, Johnny Morton had like 7 catches for 75 yds, not dominating numbers but Deion is a shut down guy and those numbers say something totally different. I think Deion's time is past, he may be fast and he may be smart, but these guys he's facing now are more than up to the challenge. Guys will be breaking their necks to be the first one to light up Deion, it kind of happens when you keep tooting your own horn ala Deion. I think Laverneus Coles in particular will be pretty excited about locking horns with the great Deion Sanders. I don't think Deion will finish the season, a sad prediction for me because I love the excitement he brings to football.

Mike Nolan is enjoying a nice career revival in Baltimore and I'm happy for him because I don't wish anyone who has passed through the Skins organization anything but success. But Nolan had to go. I don't remember anyone ever saying that Nolan should stay. Marty had supporters, Norv had supporters, Ray Rhodes had supporters, Marvin Lewis, heck even Spurrier had people in his corner. I can't think of a single person outside the immediate Nolan family who thought he was given a raw deal here. He should just shut up and enjoy his current situation.

Nolan did nothing in Baltimore but inherit a top NFL defense. Yeah, he has tweaked it some, but the majority of the players and schemes are still there from Lewis. Not saying he's a bad coach, but while he deserves credit for keeping them up there, he wasn't the one that got them there. To reference our arch-rivals, he is to Marvin Lewis as Barry Switzer was to Jimmy Johnson....he won with the same talent in place.
