Dont get me wrong, I think it is a problem. Is it the main problem? IMO, I don't think so.
Bigger issues:
-the offense not getting off the ball(score efficiently and early), and being consistent for ALL FOUR quarters.
-Finding out who we are(identity)
-Zorn's ability to lead this team after losing to the worst team in the NFL
Without a doubt those are much bigger problems. I just think our punting problem is one we could fix tomorrow, or at least bring in competition, see if anyone better is out there.
I think what makes me the most frustrated is that I didn't actively notice a punting problem last year with Frost. He had his ups and downs but it was never this bad. He kind of got ran out of DC for no real reason if you ask me.

as horrible as he has played i was willing to let him go through his rookie learning curve but when a team goes three and out and still gets a field goal because you only got off a 26 yard punt that is the point when i agree he is killing us and we can no longer afford to let him grow as a rookie, its unfortunate too because i think he will eventually be a good punter he certainly has the leg to do it.

1. He's improving
2. He's not the reason we lost today
3. He's a big reason we scored early
4. Who would we get to replace him
5. His second punt was ugly, but turned out to be a nice netting punt. He had a bad one out of his own endzone, but he's struggling anyway and he was pushed up toward the line a lot more than he's used to, so I give him a pass for just getting it off without giving up a safety.

I agree about it being a quick fix and Frost getting ran out.
I don't mean to say you're a bad poster, I am bit frustrated with the negativity, and losing doesn't help. My apologies.

I don't know the protocol, but how long does it take to develop a punter typically? He has not been great, but to my knowledge Danny Smith stuck his neck out for this guy. There may be underlying issues with releasing Brooks

Are you kidding me? Catching the snap and positioning it before a field goal kick is much more important than a short punt.
The Rams didn't get any pts directly off Brooks punt, and his hold from a bad snap helped up get points.
I'd rather have a few muffed punts than not being able to count on field goals and extra points.
First of all, the 26-yard punt out of the endzone led to the Josh Brown field goal that put them up 16-7. So yes, the Rams DID get points thanks to Brooks' shitty punt.
Secondly Smooter, being able to catch the snap for field goals and extra points is Brooks' second responsibility. His first responsibility is to get his team out of trouble by punting the ball effectively. He hasn't done that consistenly all season. This was a classic field position game, and Durant Brooks failed us miserably.
Finding someone to hold for Suisham isn't as difficult as it is to punt the ball. Anyone can hold, not anyone can punt. That's like singing the praises of the lawyer who loses all his cases but does a good job filling up the water cooler every week.

frost might have been better, but never shanked any punts?he was good for at least 1 shank a game up to last yr,he was better last yr,but he did occasionally shank them
I guess I should clarify that was sarcasm.

I vote for change thread title to "Cut Leigh Torrence"
Wtf was he even DOING on the field during possibly the most clutch defensive moment!?!?!?
Shoot me.
But F you too Brooks. Not one single good punt today and he DEFINITELY directly contributed to our loss.
While I don't say cut Torrance, if he turns his head left instead of right we're not even having this discussion. Brooks was about 5th on the list of culpable Redskins today.

You guys yelling to cut the punter will be the same ones screaming that the FO is stupid when they let him go and he goes on to be a solid punter somewhere else.
Brooks all of a sudden didn't turn into a crappy punter because he's struggled the first few games of the season. Give the kid a little time. If we're relying on a PUNTER to get us out of bad field position several times AGAINST THE SCRAMS then we've got a lot of bigger concerns.
