te kol and bauman stay, rock has the best chance... to be on the PS you can only have up to 1 year on an active nfl roster, and you can't be on the game for more than 8 games... rock is way way way past, and i think simon and mcollough probably are too... thats 9 weeks on the team, not playing in 9 games.

To the best of my knowledge, McCullough is the only runningback on the roster who has practice squad eligibility remaining. I've been a big Sultan supporter since he came here, and I'd love to see him continue to develop as a runner in this system. I saw some good things from him in last night's game, but it's clear he's still adapting to the speed of NFL defenders, and he needs to learn to be more aggressive turning upfield on wide runs. He seems to be doing well as a gunner-blocker on the punt return unit, though. I hope the coaches have seen enough good things from him to keep him around.

Personally, I'd like to see Betts, McCullough and Morton as the backups. But since McCullough has practice squad eligibility, and both Simon and Cartwright have performed well on special teams, I can see one of them taking that spot on the active roster. For me, it's a toss-up between the two. I think Simon's a superior receiver, and seems more versatile. It's common for Cartwright to be called a good short-yardage runner, because of his "bowling ball" build, but I've seen some tough running from Simon, as well. I'd take Simon over Cartwright, but that's just me.

My only concern here is that other teams have seen enough of McCullough during the past two preseasons to have an interest in him if he is released. Which brings me to the following question: have the coaches been feeding him the ball so much because they want him to earn a spot on this roster, or are they simply giving him an opportunity to latch on somewhere else? I certainly hope it's the former.

Well one thing is for sure. Rock has the heart of a Redskin. If he does not make the team, I can only hope that whoever does has 1/2 as good of an attitude and work ethic as he does. While desire is not enough to make it in this league last year he proved that, even behind the Spurrier blocking scheme fiasco, he can get that tough yard are two when the pressure is on. No dancing, just tough running. I'm pulling for him! :headbange

rock will get cut as soon as i grow hair on my assss

Don't worry Berg I have enough hair on my ass for the both of us. :)

I think Rock will be the odd man out, he's to much of a tweener, if we are in need of a big back, Rock isn't the guy, he's undersized, he is not a prototypical big back, and the rest of the back's are faster, which is why I believe he will be cut, I like the guy, I just don't think he fit's in with what we are doing.

It's probably in Sultan McCullough's best interest to be released because he could be a starter for someone and develop into a fine running back. Perhaps he will be traded this week. As a fan, I certainly hope we hold onto him. If we had a period where Portis was injured, I would feel good about McCulllough rising to the occasion as a backup and giving us not just a workmanlike performance, but be a player other teams really have to take into account - or pay the price.

I'm with Shane. The kid's not been injured to my knowledge and he has blazing speed when he gets to use it. Power up the middle might be an issue which is why I might go on a limb and say we keep him, Morton, Betts AND Cartwright. Gibbs may be willing to give up a roster spot to Morton as a return specialist and keep 4 backup RB's. Otherwise they may hope that Sultan can be picked up for the PS after waivers.

Sultan McCullough will never be a starter in this league. The best he can hope to be is a change of pace in the mold of a Ki Jana Carter
