Slingin Sammy 33 12-09-2008, 03:50 PM I've been away from the DC area since '98, so maybe I've lost touch, but who the hell is the Examiner anyway. Sounds to me like some clown trying to get some cheap web-hits. I hate articles like this. Who are the "sources", the janitor, JLC, someone with an agenda? Who knows? "Redskins Park sources are also pondering if the team’s 1-4 collapse to practically ruin its once sure playoff chances could also claim the coach. Examiner columnist Rick Snider writes that sources say Redskins coach Jim Zorn's job hinges on how the team finishes the season. “The honeymoon is definitely over,” said one team insider of Redskins owner Dan Snyder and Zorn." IMO this is all pure crap. Firing Zorn would be the absolute worst thing Snyder could do. He would be "Al Davis East" if he lets Zorn go after what should be considered a successful season with what Zorn and Blache had to work with. I think Buges and Hixon will probably be replaced but Zorn, Blache and their people will stay. dmvskinzfan08 12-09-2008, 03:53 PM I don't know if I'd call this a playoff team last year rather a team that happened to make the playoffs. ??????????? I am very disappointed with Zorn's play calling, utilization of personnel, clock management and decision making but dont think he should be fired. I think a lot of things from this article were taking out of context also. samtskins 12-09-2008, 03:54 PM Wow. What else is new... SouperMeister 12-09-2008, 03:54 PM Snyder is a f'ing idiot if he ditches Zorn after one year. If that's the case, Jason Campbell was cursed to have been drafted by this franchise. A fourth offensive system in five years is Snyder's way to groom a QB. Giantone 12-09-2008, 03:58 PM With Cowher going to Cleveland who would you get? Say it ain't so, Bill ... How dare Cowher talk to Cleveland (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07175/796764-87.stm) mredskins 12-09-2008, 03:59 PM A playoff team and a 6th seed that barely got in and went home after one game. We could have VERY easily been 7-9 or worse last year. Rackers kick goes in and we're done. Dallas didn't need the last game of the year so they laid down for us. Yes we can bitch about certain guys not being used correctly but firing Zorn is not the way to go. Talent wise there is really no difference between the 07 and 08 team. If anything we're worse. Did anyone think we'd be better w/out Sean Taylor? Give Zorn 3 years. I can't believe we're even talking about this. I agree with you but I still think Danny hired Zorn becasue he is small potatoes, who cares if Zorn is fired in a year he was lucky to be there (Danny's attuide). I think Danny has him on a one year interview make a big splash you can stay if not I will go after the sexy high profile couch (Cowher). Does this not sound like something Danny would do or has done? Here is somethign else I have thought; would it not be great fun to be Dan Synder and sign up for a under cover screen name here? Oh the fun you could have. samtskins 12-09-2008, 03:59 PM Cowher? Browns? What?! warriorzpath 12-09-2008, 03:59 PM Wait until the season is over, before thinking too far ahead. It's about not panicking and to focus in the game of football, especially in low times like this during the season and even in games. I know it's about patience - but I'm thinking about waiting for the last 3 regular season games instead of 3 seasons. This is where Zorn is going to show what he has as a coach - when things seem the lowest. It's fight or flight. Zorn and the redskins have 3 games to show what they have. If it's more of the same then you really do have to evaluate everything even if it means revamping everything. You don't know if you have the right head coach and great players until the team has really been tested through tough times like this. But deciding whether it's the players or the coaches is another question. All I know is - it starts at the top with Zorn and Campbell (and/or Portis). If they don't perform well these last 3 games - either of them (between Zorn and Campbell) should be gone, since they are the leaders of the offense. And the offense is the unit that leads a team that is based on the West Coast offensive philosophy, in my mind. Agreed, but Zorn does need to earn back the trust of the locker room, which he has been losing a bit lately. His candor isn't so refreshing anymore |
