My laptop recently ate it -- so I'm in the market for a new one. If anyone runs across a good deal, I'd appreciate it if you could post here and let me know!

Hog1 02-11-2009, 12:36 PM I bought a Toshiba through Costco about a year ago. Although like some of the things Costco does (like free tech support), the Toshiba is nothing special. It seems to slow to me Schneed10 02-11-2009, 01:03 PM This seems pretty decent. $579 for 3 GB of RAM. The Dell Online Store: Build Your System (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dndopm1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=features~laptops_great_deals) mredskins 02-11-2009, 01:23 PM I have a Dell at home. Had it for three years now not a single problem. Of course I don't know crap about computers but it gets the job done for me. MTK 02-11-2009, 01:35 PM Keep an eye on these sites for good deals Dell coupons, HP Coupons, Best Buy coupons, Computer laptop deals (http://www.dealsea.com/) Dell Coupons, Best Buy Coupons, Discount Cheap Laptops, Computer Sale (http://www.techbargains.com/) hooskins 02-11-2009, 01:51 PM Best site is Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! (http://www.newegg.com) I just bought a 370 dollar laptop(including taxes and shipping) It's a netbook -160 GB HD -2G RAM -XP -9 inch monitor -Amazing battery(5+hours) You can get bigger laptops too, all starting around 500-600 dollars. Best deal on the net. If you are trying to blow over 1k I suggest getting a Mac Daseal 02-11-2009, 02:26 PM Yeah, I can get a pretty good deal on a laptop -- my mother's work has a deal with Dell. However, my last computer was a Dell -- and while a lot of things about it I liked, others were less than impressive (the touchpad was nice. A lot of touch pads have strange feelings to them.) saden1 02-11-2009, 02:52 PM I guess the question is what do you intend to use your laptop for? There are a lot of affordable netbooks (http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&tag=mozilla-20&index=blended&link_code=qs&field-keywords=netbook&sourceid=Mozilla-search) out there these days. Daseal 02-11-2009, 03:06 PM I need some options with it -- mostly used for web browsing/word processing. But I want it to be able to handle games/photoshop/dreamweaver/etc. Has to be relatively powerful. I must say, Costco is intriguing. I know a guy that bought a TV from there, 2 years later it stopped working. They gave him a full refund. BDBohnzie 02-11-2009, 04:41 PM Costco has recently changed their return policy (90 days), so I'd be careful going that route, but they do extend the manufacturer warranty to 2 years... Here's a 16 inch Acer notebook (AMD Athlon 64 1.9 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 160 GB HD, DVD Burner, draft-N wireless) for $599 (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11316255&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|84&N=4033673&Mo=22&No=2&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=78104&Ns=P_Price|0||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&topnav=). I have an older Acer notebook that I've had for 5 years, still running strong (needs to be blown away and reformatted, weekend project). I was going to recommend TechBargains, but Matty already did. Newegg always has decent deals. But if you can take advantage of Dell's Employee Purchase Program, you might as well see what you can do there. |
