Pace is getting cut by a team that has had one of the worst O-lines In the NFL the last few years. This is not even worth talking about.
Yea, I guess your right. The Skins should cut Samuels too cause they had a bad O-line also.
Guess what....one man does not make a team. Just cause they had a terrible O-line does not mean Pace sucks. It means either the scheme was flawed, there were break downs in other positions on the O-line, or possibly Pace sucked. One telling point of view would be to look at how many sacks he gave up. Perhaps look at how far the runs went on his side of the line.
If we could bring him in on the cheap and have Buges work with his techniques maybe he will still have some gas left in him. I mean Samuels was (so I heard) written off before the Skins got him and thats why he speaks so highly of Buges. Yes Pace is older, but an upgrade is an upgrade. I still wonder if the Skins will play a Rookie in the O-line who has not played in any NFL games and needs to get up to NFL speed. It seems the team frowns on it. Every coach that comes in has not put the Rookies in on offense. Defense has been a different story though.
edit: Before you all mention Heyer remember he got in due to injury and lack of depth.

While I doubt the Skins will sign Pace, his release could affect us as far as the draft goes. This really increases the likelihood of St. Louis taking a tackle with their first pick, meaning one less of the "big 4" for us to choose from at 13.

^^well nevermind then..
I am pretty amazed at the sentiments in this thread. The people against Pace I don't get. Is it that he isn't any good? I don't think there are any indications that he slipped so far as to not be able to play better than what we currently have. The question is durability to me. If he can stay on the field, or rather can be reasonably expected to stay on the field then I see no reason why he can't be a 1 year stop gap at RT for the right price. It would allow us to draft at another position of need. A OLB or DE both of which take longer to get acclimated. Plus...and this is a biggie for me. We can have some confidence that he can swing to LT and not get our QB killed if Samuels goes down.

If he is healthy and a dirt cheap price then go for it. Lets just not over pay for another veteran on the downside of his career.
dont overpay but it would be a good move this guy can still play for a couple of years.ray brown junior

Please. what does the Times or Post know about the Skins? Everyone knows if you want into you go to PFT. lol.
I'm not upset. Take or leave him I don't care. He would have been an upgrade but for how long?
I still have doubts that the Team is going to start any Rookie next yr. I think it's funny how everyone is draft this guy and draft that guy on O-line. So the team does. It doesn't mean they will start him. lol. I honestly don't think they would play anyone if they picked them at 13 either. Unless they are desperate for a RT I see us picking one up but playing Heyer or Jansen or another Vet. Unfortunatly.

I'd say if he's cheap a lot of teams would take him, So I think the signing him if he's cheap point is mute. We'd be in a cheap bidding war , and pay more than he's worth..

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN VISITING BROWNS
Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 11, 2009, 2:19 p.m.
St. Louis Rams unrestricted free agent offensive lineman Adam Goldberg is visiting the Cleveland Browns today, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com.
Goldberg is known for his versatility. The 6-foot-7, 318-pounder started games last year at every offensive line position except for center, appearing in all 16 games with six starts.
A former University of Wyoming undrafted free agent, Goldberg, 28, has played for the Rams for the past three seasons after entering the league with the Minnesota Vikings.
According to Caplan, the Rams are still interested in retaining Goldberg.
Goldberg has started 28 games in five NFL seasons.

We drafted Samuels with the #3 overall pick. I don't know where you are getting that he was written off before he got here, he has always been here.
