RobH4413 04-08-2009, 01:42 PM I think it was a Michael Jackson album but I really don't remember exactly. I remember it like it was yesterday. My dad took me to the store and said he'd buy me two albums, one of my choice, and the second he would choose. I picked out Arrested Development, They sung Mr. Wendel and Tennessee and what not. My dad picked out Michael Jackson Off the Wall. Still two CD's I listen to on a semi consistent basis. firstdown 04-08-2009, 02:40 PM For the younger crowd have you guys even heard an album played or seen a turn table? MTK 04-08-2009, 02:44 PM Sure records were still a big deal when I was a kid. dmek25 04-08-2009, 02:45 PM grooveline by heatwave. i think around 1975-76. like it so much i started D.Jaying house parties. still have dual turn tables, and my mixer, after all these years:) SmootSmack 04-08-2009, 02:48 PM When I a kid, my grandmother gave me some birthday money which I used to buy this rump shaker (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D1ZZyTOG7tQ/SMW2j9XW0HI/AAAAAAAACc0/-Nnxdb09zVI/s320/Cover%2B1.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.1soundtracks.com/soundtrack/Alvin_and_the_Chipmunks/The_Chipmunks_Go_Hollywood_soundtrack/186024/&usg=__ukQx7GPgXu7drJ2KBZJOKBtuz28=&h=320&w=320&sz=39&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=eOCaTIIh-YmYBM:&tbnh=118&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchipmunks%2Bgo%2Bhollywood%26hl%3Den% 26sa%3DN%26um%3D1) That was probably my first album...or New Edition's Candy Girl (on vinyl of course) I also vaguely remember Musical Youth's Pass the Dutchie (single, on vinyl) Those were the days when you had to drop the needle on the record, and then the best part was always seeing what the B-side track was going to be. Kids these days with their ipods... mredskins 04-08-2009, 03:03 PM Think back long and hard, what was the first album you ever bought with your own money? I was 12 at the time I actually bought two at the same time and thankfully they weren't embarrassing choices looking back now. Van Halen's 1984 and Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA. Both on cassette. I have a poster of the 1984 album with the little boy on it hung in my office. I have had that poster forever follows me every where. Now that my son is getting older he eirely (sp) is starting to look more and more like that little boy. Karma? first album was Quiet Riot Metal Health, good stuff, Slick Black Cadialac.. dmek25 04-08-2009, 03:19 PM When I a kid, my grandmother gave me some birthday money which I used to buy this rump shaker (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_D1ZZyTOG7tQ/SMW2j9XW0HI/AAAAAAAACc0/-Nnxdb09zVI/s320/Cover%2B1.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.1soundtracks.com/soundtrack/Alvin_and_the_Chipmunks/The_Chipmunks_Go_Hollywood_soundtrack/186024/&usg=__ukQx7GPgXu7drJ2KBZJOKBtuz28=&h=320&w=320&sz=39&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=eOCaTIIh-YmYBM:&tbnh=118&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchipmunks%2Bgo%2Bhollywood%26hl%3Den% 26sa%3DN%26um%3D1) That was probably my first album...or New Edition's Candy Girl (on vinyl of course) I also vaguely remember Musical Youth's Pass the Dutchie (single, on vinyl) Those were the days when you had to drop the needle on the record, and then the best part was always seeing what the B-side track was going to be.
