The Goat 04-22-2009, 11:52 PM Well I guess the question is that if Eugene Monroe were to fall to #13, would you take him?
On a different note, looks like BJ Raji is in the clear.

I see Ruh. I would take him if all other top OT prospects were gone along w/ Jackson and Rey. In other words if it's between Monroe and Orakpo I'd take Monroe easy decision.
...dude I can't believe Raji was slandered that way. Saw a headline today asking whether SI owes him more than an apology...i would say so. But mostly I'm just happy for him all this got cleared up prior to the draft. I won't be surprised if he goes top 5.

Unlikely scenario but I'd take him in a heartbeat.
GusFrerotte 04-23-2009, 12:17 AM I'm with you on that one. I read about his knee and I just kept thinking about E. James and M. Kelly. We really need an impact first rounder.
Shit never studied about this guy closely. He missed games in 2 seasons with a bum knee huh? I think we need a tackle or guard more than a d linemen, but would be happy if we did get an impact DE to play opposite Haynesworth. I see this Orakpo thing as a 50/50 shot at best. The Big 12 is tough, but nothing compared to the gruelling 16 possibly more games played in the NFL. IF he can stay healthy he rocks. I did watch enough of him this past season to know he rocks, but damn, he missed time in 2 seasons with his knee? Snyder gambles way too much for my liking!!!!!
Redskin Jim 04-23-2009, 12:57 AM Smith is going to drop to us at #13. On the field he is nasty and I would be cool with the pick. As long as we don't trade up, take Sanchez, any RB, or undersized DE/LB.... I wont bitch too much..
Hmmm...I guess I like Smith/Oher/Rey/Orakpo/Jackson if we stay at #13

These ProDay numbers combined with blowing off the combine and his missing the Sugar Bowl for consulting an agent too early frankly scare me away from A. Smith. Questionable heart and work ethic IMO. If none of J. Smith, Monroe, Oher or Orakpo are there at 13, trading down with a team like Tampa Bay at 19 and getting Britton looks like an interesting option to look into IMO.
Orakpo is still my guy, though. He missed one game last year with a bruised knee. No ligament damage. His film, conditioning, strength, speed, and combine grades all tell me he is a beast and a difference-maker. He had a huge game going up against Oklahoma's Loadholt. I'm tired of losing games in the 4th quarter, and guys with Orakpo's conditioning will finally help put an end to that IMO. I think he will be taken top 10, but if concerns about his knee drop him down and he is still there at 13, I say we thank our lucky stars and grab him!

I don't think there is a question that if Orakpo falls to us at 13 we're taking him. The knee concerns aren't that much of an issue to me, but Loadholt won't even go on Day 1 so I'd expect him to have a great game. My only concern with Orakpo is his consistency.

We agree on Orakpo.
My point about Orakpo's play vs. Loadholt is that Loadholt was certainly among the top 10% of division 1 OTs, so he was no slouch. Loadholt will definitely be drafted. In fact, he may well get taken in the second round.

I highly doubt that but we'll see.
Monkeydad 04-27-2009, 10:55 AM Couple of problems. The Raiders, while unconventional will probably not grab a guy as raw as Heyward-Bey. The Bronco's will not pass up Orakpo in favor of Brown. Jaron Gilbert will not be a first round pick.
Couple of problems, eh? :D
Heyward-Bey is a Raider and ORAKPO is a REDSKIN!!!!!!!!!!!! :woot:
This guy had a great mock draft.

Loadholt went round 2 to Minnesota.
