Average is probably the better word. Sure he's not a liability, but he's not asset either. I don't think the same can be for Cooley who knows he needs to block for Portis to open up the passing game for himself and others. I think Dainels is a good TE who can stretch the field and is probably the best run after the catch TE right now, but if you ask him to block I don't think he's as open to it as Cooley.

You think he refuses to block, or complains about it? Am I understanding you right?

SHOCKER...not. News flash, peoples top five is subjective. It usually is what that individual believes is his or hers top five...and most often it's their favorite players not based off of talent or statistics.

Also I'm betting he's making his judgement off of last yrs performance. Cooley's worst yr.

Actually last season was his best year as a Pro... he just didnt score any TD's (1), so no one noticed.

For what it's worth, here is Pete Prisco's top 10 list. Cooley is either 4th or 8th. Can't really tell:

He's going to block but he probably doesn't care about it as much as pass catching. In terms of all around talent at the TE position, I just think Cooley has an edge.

I see. Well, I'm having a hard time seeing how you've come to that conclusion. I'm guessing you're just assuming he doesn't really care so much about blocking?

People around here need to stop looking at everything through their burgundy and gold glasses. Daniels doesn't get a lot of press but he's every bit as good as Cooley is. He doesn't make the Pro Bowl cause he's got Gates and Gonzalez in the AFC. If Cooley were in the AFC he would never get picked over those two.Good point.

Cooley is a better blocker than really everyone gives him credit for. Two years ago, I called him the best TE in the league, based on receiving acumen and clearly improving blocking acumen. He hasn't had a receiving season quite like 2006 though, and frankly, hasn't been as valuable under Campbell as he was under Brunell.

Therefore, probably not the best TE in football, and never was, though he certainly seemed like he was going to be for awhile.

Cooley doesn't have Manning, Rivers, Schuab, or Romo throwing to him. He does have Randle El though.

Funny you should say that, I spent most of my life in the New Orleans area until Katrina and was always a Skins fan, so I know how it is as my brother is a big time saints fan though..
