Server too busy..... Or not loading at all....

Hey I appreciate it guys, and I appreciate the support from everyone who contributes to the site.

Just to be up front, our server costs right now run around $2k a year. I'm tossing in $200 this week for the RAM upgrade which should make a big difference in helping to avoid the dreaded "server busy" message. With the way the economy has been, advertising revenue is really down this year and the site barely pays for itself. It's frustrating because I would like to be doing more giveaways but the money just isn't there.

Rest assured the server issues bug the F outta me, and when need be I will toss in my own dough to cover things. Fact is the site continues to grow and every few years we simply outgrow our digs. Time to move it on up!

Dude, you're the man. Don't sweat some people getting grumpy. I understand their frustrations but I also know how much has been put into fixing these types of issues. As someone else said, shit happens. We know you're on top of it.

hell of a marketing idea i should'a advertised for free.... nah really tho, i wasnt posting this in disgruntle with this site, i love this site, and the skins, just becuz im not a premium member, and just turned 24 and have bills and school and have money to enjoy the skins on NFL sunday ticket, and if i had sumthin id contribute too....

Don't worry about it. I'm just as frustrated as all of you when the site is having issues.

Matty, hit me up with a budget and what you're currently hosted on. We've got another dedicated on a diff network than the one I showed you before now and have been happy with that as well. I won't mention any of it to anyone; pricing is great on each. I'd assume that you're on VPS right now? 200 concurrent isn't unfathomable for that depending how you've config'd and there are a lot of vbulletin and MySQL tweaks and caching options that can make it serve a lot better when under heavier load; I'm not sure what you've done so far in that regard but if you're not data and query caching efficiently look into that. Also, make a new skin that displays less graphics, less snazzy features, etc. We use one that we joking call "Poor Mode" and force it upon all users when we start to hit too high of a load from social media traffic. It cuts avs, sigs, a lot of the buttons, etc and put it into a mode that disables other intensive features like search, etc etc whatever is using up a lot of queries.

Serving ads to everyone you should be wanting to hear from anyonene, not just premium; but I know how things go and that's why I bought VIP several weeks back and it is your site after all :)

What are you paying almost 170 a month for that can't handle 200 concurrent? How many queries are being served a page? None of this really adds up; are you on completely managed hosting or something? I'm not trying to put you down or sound like a know it all but you should be getting A LOT more for the money.
