Brennen could be placed on IR

Larry Weisman's Twitter says that Brennan IS going to IR. I know it's been talked about, but I didn't really expect that.

no more ochocinco twitter but heeeerrre's Larry (http://twitter.com/LarryWeisman)

WOW......thats crazy! I guess most people should be happy, that means we get to keep both Colt and Chase, setting up a real showdown next year for #2, lol.

Brennen. just because he has a year in the system. talent wise, they are pretty close

Kelly. but hoping Thomas can make an impact

Cartwright. just brings more to the team, overall.

Daniel, since Brennan's on IR
Kelly is our 2nd WR
Mason is better than Cartwright. Look I love Rock Cartwright, sure he's a good ST, and Team leader/Captain, but on the playing field, when was the last time he returned a kick for a TD...I would say 3 years ago against Dallas is the last one I remember. I still remember when we put him in at RB against Kansas City, we lost the game, because he got stripped and they ran it in for a TD.

QB: Colt easily cause he's knows more of the offense, but I think Chase handled himself better. Colt going to IR solves this problem.

WR: Kelly has stepped up and actually looks better then Thomas. To be honest Mitchell is looking better then Thomas to me, but Thomas should know more of the offense at this point. Mitchell runs great routes and catches everything thrown his way. My take; Moss, Kelly, ARE, Mitchell, Thomas (and use him for KR duties, both KR/PR).

RB: Portis is entrenched. The team is resigned to use Betts on 3rd down even though I think Betts is great at pass blocking on 3rd down and catching out of the back field, he sucks as a RB in short yardage when the line is stacked. I think D.Smith is going to put up a good arguement to keep Rock. Which will make it; Portis, Betts, Rock, and either Alridge or Dorsey or both if one goes to PS. My personal pick: Portis, Mason, Alridge and Dorsey. This gives us the vet in Portis, our future in Mason, and two change of pace backs who are young and have a lot ot offer.

Daniel
Kelly
Mason

If I was calling the shots that's how it would be.

twitter makes days like this interesting:
Mortreport from ESPN says even with Brennan on IR, Daniel will not make 53 OR practice squad.

Say what?

Would we go with only 2 QBs?

Would we go with only 2 QBs?

The redskins must have a whole new outlook on Campbell this season.

Would we go with only 2 QBs?

Now that would surprise me. I think both played well enough to show 3rd string/developmental quality.

At the same time, the team may not think either will ever develop into a starter that would garner trade bait (My best case scenario had JC becoming a probowler with Colt/Chase flashing starter ability in a year or two, then pulling a Matt Shaub/Matt Cassel type deal for them). If we actually needed an emergency QB, ARE could play and while VC and crew burned up the lines to find an experienced vet to fill in for a longer time if necessary. Frankly, if our season comes down to the play of the 3rd string QB, we are already cooked.

The team might be thinking that they want to keep the 53rd slot for another position player or ST guy. Quite frankly, if true, I think it is good news for the Mason Maniacs.
