It's just like it was with JKC then. If the right guy comes along, Shanahan for example (who in my opinion is not the right guy) then he'll be made the Head Coach/President. If our new head coach is Gary Kubiak for example, he probably won't be made President as well.
But yeah ideally somebody is brought on as the President and that person hires the front office execs and the head coach. Technically that guy has been VC, but he seems to be the wrong guy for the job. He's more a Don Breaux (no offense Breaux) than a Joe Gibbs, more a Ringo than a Paul, more a Simon than an Alvin...all this to mean he's not suited to be the "leader"
Did you just make an analogy using a Hall of Fame coach, one of the greatest bands of all time and a cartoon chipmunk? Well played sir, well played.
I'd like to see a combination of one of the following:
Savage & Shanahan
Allen & Gruden
Chris Polian & Bruce Arians

Please take a moment to look at this:
The Official Website of the Indianapolis Colts (http://www.colts.com/sub.cfm?page=roster)
Of the top 53, there is only one Unrestricted Free Agent being Adam Vinatieri. Then they have claimed three guys off of waivers(four if you count Cody Glenn on the Practice Squad). It appears some of these guys have been on other teams such as Stover and Baskett, but the majority of this team was drafted or rookie free agents. Wow.
I remember in their SuperBowl they said every starter on Offense and Defense was drafted by the team.
No 100 Million dollar future busts. No traded draft picks for guys that will not pan out.
If Chris Polian has learned anything from his Dad, then he should be our guy.

I don't know for a fact but I haven't heard good things about Savage (as a person). And I don't mean to age-discriminate but Arians is older than Zorn, I'd prefer to go young

I'm nearly 62 years old and I agree with you. I'd look for someone who can give it at least ten energetic years. A contemporary of Dan Snyder's wouldn't be a bad thing. They could grow up together.

Chris Polian & Bruce Arians would be my choice, how could you go wrong doing it the way the Colts have?

I agree i'd rather our next coach be on the younger side.

We definitely need a great football mind in as team president/GM. It starts there. That is how you get the perfect coach, the right players, etc.. and ultimately, that is how you keep behinds in seats at Fedex field.
I must admit, I don't know the names of the GMs/Team Presidents around the league like some of you guys do. But, I definitely agree that we need someone who fits the standards of having a great football mind and the ability to build the team up right along with being a great manager. Certainly that package in someone who is young and will stay here for years to come.
If Snyder is unwilling to do this for the team, no coach he goes after is ever going to be truly successful in D.C.
