Precisely why I shared it. :D
20-year old corn chowder...yum. I don't even like it when it's fresh.
You still need a water and heat source with this stuff...could be a little difficult. Fire is easier to find than clean water in a doomsday crisis.
I'd rather stock up on astronaut food. Fries and ice cream!
Use a rag or a piece of cloth to filter the water into a pot. Then use the fire to boil the pot of water.

How big of a cache do you have of these items?
I'll never tell. let's just say, if I get laid off I'll not have to worry about where my next meal is coming from for awhile.
Honestly, nothing that I can't use up myself in a long period of time (a year). If things get tough I can make it last (two and a half). Except for the booze, which I don't drink. Everclear comes in handy down here since it's illegal.
Somethings I will just use for barter, IE: glass & stainless steel syringes, stainless steel surgical kits, strait razors, filtration kits, not to mention you can never have enough booze and condoms.
I don't expect the end of the world to come. If things get real effed up, I can step across the street into the White Oak Swamp and just chill. I used to do that anyway, but we've been having a rabies problem lately.

Read the book The Road and you might think twice about that.
Think twice about killing a dear or catching fish? What is the book about.

Hey that sounds great!
.........can you filter nuclear fallout with a rag filter?

From what I understand, the water isn't radioactive, the particles in it are. In theory the water can be filtered safely, just not distilled only. I think you'd need a more complex osmosis system than a rag though, perhaps two rags and a brillo soap pad.

Lets be realistic, you aren't surviving a nuclear winter no matter how many guns you own. This is made for, and the label clearly specifies natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes or even for a camping or hunting trip. So ease up on the wise cracks. I was provding knowledge for a realistic survival situation.

Think twice about killing a dear or catching fish? What is the book about. No, I mean think twice about even being able to find a deer or a fish to catch. It's basically about a father and son trying to survive after some kind of global disaster (they never say what exactly happened). There is basically nothing left to hunt.
It's a bleak book but a great read, and the movie comes out some time later this year.

After I posted that I looked up the book and it does sound interesting. If that happened I could just go out a net up all the fish floating around.
