How to stop smoking?EARTHQUAKE2689 11-04-2009, 09:15 AM But seriously each person is different my older bro quit cold turkey my GFs little sis quit because my GF punched her and said she would make her eat them if she ever saw her smoking again. KLHJ2 11-04-2009, 11:18 AM TTE, what worked for me was quitting smoking in every instance that I would want a cigarette one by one. I started by not smoking in my car. Months later I stopped smoking at work. Eventually, I stopped smoking after work when I was at home. The only thing that I haven't kicked yet is the urge to smoke when I drink. Honestly, I may have to quit drinking to quit smoking. Some people may say that I am still considered a smoker, but I am happy with what I have accomplished so far. I used to smoke a pack a day. Now a pack would last me a month if the damn things didn't get stale. Baby steps, no physical aids, just cut back until you stop. Cold turkey just results in relapse. smootistheman 11-04-2009, 01:22 PM That's a good way to do it. Slowly. Where I work I see so many people that smoke when they drink. hooskins 11-04-2009, 01:36 PM I smoke when I drink, I am gonna stop. From all accounts, many people I know start becoming regular from that point onwards. Trample the Elderly 11-04-2009, 01:50 PM Drinking isn't a problem for me. When I did drink, I'd smoke a God-awful amount of cigarettes though. I broke down and bummed two smokes last night from some friends. One was a Marlboro Red and it was horrible. I'm not giving up though. I haven't had any today. Another friend of mine quit too. He's going on three months. If he can do it, I can too. budw38 11-04-2009, 07:46 PM TTE, what worked for me was quitting smoking in every instance that I would want a cigarette one by one. I started by not smoking in my car. I probably shouldn't say this ... but if you put the smokes in the freezer they last for ever .... That is what I have been doing, but sometimes when your drinking you forget shit. That's the toughest part, it took me years before I could go out drinking and not have the urge for a butt. Even now I may bum one here or there. This summer we were out boozing and I bummed off this guy outside of a bar and he gave me a Newport. LOL man, it knocked my socks off. For a minute I thought I was gonna have to sit down on the sidewalk. smootistheman 11-05-2009, 11:25 AM A Newport! That's a buzz waiting to happen. You must've been tanked. KLHJ2 11-05-2009, 01:03 PM Newport is my brand. | |
