It's way too premature to be calling for Betts to retire. If he doesn't play as Redskin next year, he'll be playing somewhere. This is a guy who hasn't played a ton of games and with today's medical breakthroughs, he can bounce from this if he wants to.

We all thought Cadillac Williams was done after he shredded his knee, but he's running harder than ever now. Willis Mcgahee is another one that returned after a really bad knee injury. Granted both of those guys are younger than Betts, but at the end of the day I think it's how bad he want's to come back.

Gee, 2009 is a bad luck year for our franchise. So many key players have been lost for at least the year and maybe for their careers. We have bad karma.

At least when those guys busted their knees they were younger whereas Betts is already 30. True, he doesn't have a ton of miles on him, but his time could run out before he is fully healed.

I suspect they'll bring Mason back for sure nowThat makes all the sense in the world now. Let him split the load with Rock. I don't see either as a 20-25 carry workhorse, but give them 10-12 carries each, and perhaps they can be very productive. My concern with Mason is always his shaky blitz pick-ups.

That is what happens when a front office worries too much about public opinion. We should have picked Larry Johnson for an emergency like this.

In hindsight it's easy to say they should've picked up LJ, but from what I heard Zorn say I think he was right in not doing so & saying he would stick w/the guys that have been here. And for one week that worked quite well as Betts had 114 v. denver. That's why they re-signed him a few years ago. No one could've predicted such a bad injury to betts.

LJ could really cause some chemistry problems on a team that is at least coming together & playing hard.

Anyone bashing the team for not getting LJ now is just playing Monday Morning QB. LJ was running like trash this season and hasn't been his former dominant self for years. He's finished and wouldn't be someone we'd want to trust, especially without knowing whatever system we're running now. I'd rather have Rock carrying the load and even Ganther has a little more time with the team under his belt and is probably better than LJ at this point in his career.

They made the right choice. Johnson's finished and even for depth is not an asset to any team.

I whole heartedly dissagree with you. It's a matter of striking while the iron is hot. Hopefully they give a call to McAldridge along with Mason since they will have two spots open.

Oh well . . . . It will be interesting to see what happens in the off season now.

New GM? Please God!

New Coach? Who would want this job?

New OC? What kind of offense will we be playing next year, the Baja Beach or perhaps the sand box shuffle?

New QB? Pineapple Jesus? Timmy Tebow? Which ever bright light that glitters in Danny's eyes?

New Offensive line? Oh eff that! The University of Maryland probably has a few guys that will go undrafted. Who spends high draft picks on quality Ts anyway?

Free Agents? Who hits the bricks? Bricks for hands Los? Beasted on MNF Landry? Jason, I think someone would give me job, Campbell? I don't ever make mistakes, South East Jerome?

Who's going to retire first, Danny Smith or Gregg Blache? My money is on Blache.

Can we find enough money to retain Hunter or are they over working him?

Will it be an uncapped year? You mean we're stuck with these guys? Damn it all!

Will relaying plays eff up Sherm's bingo calling? We wouldn't want that to happen would we?

Who's going to be the RB? I say we call the Burger King. That guy can tear it up.

I still think passing on Larry Johnson was the best thing to do. The guy is a problem teammate and the criminal element in Cincinnati is the best place for him. The Skins are officially in a rebuilding mode and need to get younger, faster, stronger more athletic. Bring in Mason or Aldridge to finish out the season. Maybe one of these guys can prove their worth. Meanwhile, its time to look to next season and start evaluating who is staying and who needs to be replaced.
