skinsnut 12-20-2009, 02:02 PM Lets think of this logically...take the emotion out of it and the fact that we all despise the cowboys....look at it from a neutral point of view.
Who would not prefer the Dallas job?
They have way more talent, they have an even larger fan base than we do...they have massive TV coverage. They have an owner that likes spending cash and has won superbowls. They have solid foundations on the lines...c''mon...they are better than the Skins in almost all categories at this point...that is why we needed a new GM and head coach in the first place.
The reality is the Skins are playing as good as they can right now.
The Cowboys underperform regularly...that means a solid coach could have them Superbowl contenders while a good coach for us could get us into the playoffs....think of Gibbs II...he got the most wins out of the team...then think Zorn with the same team....We needed a new GM more desperately than a new coach...the opposite is true for Dallas
rbanerjee23 12-20-2009, 02:25 PM ^^^ true, but that still doesn't change the fact that DALLAS BLOWS!!!! haha

The obvious answer is anyone who doesn't want to deal with Jerry Jones.
People like to speculate how involved Snyder is, but the fact is in Dallas Jones is very involved.
SBXVII 12-20-2009, 02:31 PM According to Jay Glazer, Shanny would take the Cowboys job over us.... WTF? I was 99% sure he would be in DC in 2 weeks..
Report: Snyder offered job to Shanahan in offseason | ProFootballTalk.com (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/20/report-snyder-offered-job-to-shanahan-in-march/)
Smoke and mirror's bro, smoke and mirror's.
Shanny informed Buffalo that if they wanted him they would have to pick up Allen also. He told them they would be a package deal.
........:) who has Allen?
Reports out now saying Shanny told Snyder the same thing and thats why we picked up Allen. I'm telling you the deal was made back in Oct. around our bye when DS went to Denver to meet with Shanny.
I think we need to be more concerned with who Shanny will pick up as positions coach's and who he asks to be brought in as the scouting team.
SBXVII 12-20-2009, 02:36 PM With all of this Shanny talk going on, I would rather see Dungy or Cowher come here. I think that any one those two guys would be what this sorry-ass franchise needs to build a true contender from the ground up.
Dungy has already said he does not want a HCing job. Basically taking a rest from football or happily retired. Cowher has rebuffed DS several times now I think. Maybe I'm wrong. Supposedly Cowher is upset that DS is taling with Shanny. Not sure why...if it's he wanted the job finally, which I doubt cause rumors are he wants the Panthers job, or he thinks it's not polite to HC hunt while the team already has a HC in place.
In any case who cares what he and others think. Last time we waited and did due diligence and came out late with a QB coach as our HC. I think DS is making sure the new HC gets a better start at seasons end. No biggie.

Yea, take the time to think about it......Jerry would not like to give anyone any amount of control cause he likes to have total control.
trust me Dallas may be one of the teams to have contacted him but he will be a Skin at seasons end
CRedskinsRule 12-20-2009, 03:08 PM Shanahan had a very hands off owner in Denver. JJ says he IS the GM, and Shanahan won't go for that, JJ would not give up control to BP, or Dan Reeves - in a consulting position, I can't see Shanahan going to that environment. Further, even though DS has been meddlesome, there is every indication that he wants to get away from that model, and in the past has been willing to at least share power with head coaches he respected, JG-Marty the first year - even Spurrier at first. I see no reason why Shanahan would not consider this his first best place.

Unfortunately, that is not the prevailing opinion of Dan Snyder.
The Danny is #1 problem with the skins...and his meddlesome ways are the reason....and everyone knows it.
At least the #2 problem is now gone

Well, I tend to think it is overblown, not that it is untrue, just overblown. I want to say SmootSmack has said that as well but I could be wrong. Regardless of that though, DS started to try to change that image at the press conference by stating that Bruce Allens decisions are Redskin decisions. Did he stumble, was it hard for him to say, yes and yes, but I think he is trying to impress upon Shanahan and others that he understands the concept.

Also if you listen to cowboys fans JJ is the #1 and #2 problem with the cowboys, from there its a 3 way tie between Wade, Garrett and JJ. so i think it is fair to ask why would Shanahan want to go into that evironment.
In terms of your comments on the quality of players. I would think Shanahan has enough ego to think he can fix any player related issue, so that would not be his deciding factor.
And media wise, Dallas and Washington have fair shares of media attention assuming any type of competitive team.
