Bigger embarrassment for DC sports in 2009-Wizards or Redskins?
You forgot the Nats! It would have been an ever bigger embarrassment if they hadn't signed Strasburg.
I'd say the biggest embarrassment was the Redskins. Sure the Wiz are playing badly, but the sideshow created by one player's stupidity is the main reason they are such a joke right now. The 2009 Redskins were just a top to bottom organizational fail on so many levels.

Other than spelling their name wrong on the jersey I don't remember much that the Nats did to be an embarrassment other than play poorly...watch out for them in 2012 though! And they signed Pudge Rodriguez who's a playoff magnet.
At least the Redskins are taking steps to turn the franchise around. Hopefully the Wizards will do the same soon. I wonder how long until Leonsis takes over?

Well the win-loss thing is what I was talking about. For much of the season they were pacing to be the worst team ever.
Leonsis is taking over, right? I know he had first right of refusal for majority ownership when Abe died.

Redskins, it's harder to be embarrased about something you don't care about. Still even factoring that out, this was easily the worst season for the Redskins in a while. If it hadn't been for the hiring's of Allen and Shanahan then the Redskins would basically be dead to rights.

The Bullets should be able to turn this ship around, they'll be freeing up A LOT OF MONEY when Arenas' contract is voided. They could get a few good players with that savings.

Arenas reaches out to kids in an op-ed today in the Washington Post. Hopefully he's sincere. I wish him the best moving forward because I believe in second chances. But I'm done with him as a Washington Wizard.

I think that's just GM talk right now. We'll see what happens this summer.

I hope you're right. I would have rather heard him say something like "we'll evaluate Gilbert's status once the season is over and the suspension is lifted."

They're waiting to see if he gets jail time. If a year, they can void the contract and he won't have much of a chance with his players' union-backed appeal. If a short or no jail sentence, he could serve immediately and physically be back for the start of the next season, giving his appeal a better chance.
