I think most of the vets who make too much money will be dropped. The "offensive" line is the only thing in need of true rebuilding. A new RB is most likely required as well. This team has quite a bit of young talent, that is close to turning the corner. SBXVII 01-04-2010, 02:13 PM I think rebuild is seen as a "bad" word in sports marketing. Rebuild says it is going to be years before we are good again, reload says we are almost there hold on. The skins still need to sell tickets in the rebuild/reload years so it is just a play on words to keep folks drooling. Understood. However the marketing department needs to realize that to fans, lay person, and general public Rebuild means "fresh start" in hopes of building a team oriented organization, Reload means SSDD. We've been "Reloading" for 10 yrs now. Beemnseven 01-04-2010, 02:14 PM We've been without a coach for less than 12 hours... lol sorry just had to laugh at that... Redskins One was reportedly in Colorado today if that makes you happy. Yes, I didn't word that correctly. It just seems like if Shanahan's the guy, why wait until this press conference on Thursday? Is it to satisfy the Rooney Rule? I've heard something along the lines of having to interview Jerry Gray again -- if that's what it takes to dot all the I's and cross all the T's, fine. But simply from a PR standpoint, it would seem like a stronger statement to the fans that your guy is already in place. MTK 01-04-2010, 02:15 PM Yes, I didn't word that correctly. The delay is probably due to just a few last minute hashing out of contract details I would guess. jgalecpa 01-04-2010, 02:16 PM I actually got a call from the Marketing dept. on New Years Eve feeling me out as to whether or not I was going to re-up my season tix next year. They were very sympathetic as to the teams fortune (i.e. they were sales people saying whatever I wanted to hear). Told them that the decision to re-up would depend on (a) what the skins did in the immediate offseason and if they could move me down in the same section for the same price. I have never gotten a call like that from them before. Beemnseven 01-04-2010, 02:17 PM Understood. MTK 01-04-2010, 02:19 PM Reload/rebuild, whatever you call it, I think BA's point was we have enough talent where you don't have to blow it all up and start over. Get some key pieces in here, lead them with a quality staff, and things will improve. Trample the Elderly 01-04-2010, 02:21 PM You can't rebuild a roster in one off season. Some of these bums will be back next year. mredskins 01-04-2010, 02:23 PM Understood. Casual fans out number us by a ton, so they are going to play to the casual fan. |
