So basically "No one else in the class stood out" still holds true.
I still say Marko Mitchell should have stood out but for whatever reason be it Zorn or Hixon he never played. I honestly think the Mitchell situation was a result of poor coaching and not the type were you can say something to the effect of "oh the coaches know better then you."
The truth is we sucked and when you suck you need to take risk and see if some of the young guys can play. Marko Mitchell showed more then enough to warrant at least a look.
Hopefully the new coaching staff will make use of him. Shanahan certainly doesn't mind guys like Mitchell given his best reciever as a head coach was an UDFA (Mitchell was a 7th round pick btw)
By the way, when do we get the Goodmans?

I expect this will be the year that many of our recent picks either stand out or stand down. Hopefully Mitchell, Kelly, and Thomas all take that long awaited step up, they all showed flashes last year (Kelly briefly). I really didn't get what Zorn and crew was trying to prove, but I don't think that will be a question this year.

No certainty they'll get the Goodmans (or one or the other), but the scouts and other front office execs' contracts run through April so you won't likely see any changes until May at the earliest

Mitchell was a 24 year old rookie, just like Rod Smith.
That's all I've got.

Man the scouting stuff is so confusing. I mean how can you contribute scouting wise if you've only worked the beat for a month or two? Plus aren't the Goodmans unemployed while we have a staff shortage? What's stopping us from bringing them in now if we're going to at all? Why is this post nothing but questions?

I liked Zorn but i felt he put plays in & never really watched film of the opposing team & tryed to exploit their weaknesses, you saw what happened when we hired the Bingo caller(Sherman Lewis) the OF looked so much better. We have the right mindset in charge now.

Agreed that it seemed that at times we weren't prepared to attack a weakness. Or once we found one we tossed that type of play in the trash because we'd already done it. When Cooley mentioned that I was appalled.

I always wondered when Bruce Allen came aboard if Jim Zorn took over calling plays again.

I would like to know that too, it was amazing how Sherm Lewis just stopped being in the picture. There was one story where the player wanted to see DS and was told basically our football organization doesn't operate that way anymore, and I wonder if Lewis was told the same thing, a football organization doesn't have a consultant calling plays. It makes sense looking from the outside in, but the world may never know.
