ZackMills 11-03-2004, 12:45 PM Answer me this, do you think the Rams should have fired Vermeil after his first two seasons when he won a total of 11 games? Vermeil was not nearly as hyped as being a great coach like Gibbs has, nor were the Rams nearly as good on paper as the underachieving Skins are :cheers MTK 11-03-2004, 02:39 PM Vermeil was not nearly as hyped as being a great coach like Gibbs has, nor were the Rams nearly as good on paper as the underachieving Skins are :cheers So do you think he should have been fired or not? NY_Skinsfan 11-03-2004, 02:41 PM So do you think he should have been fired or not? Matty, it's useless...he just doesn't get it. Go back to Urbana dude since that is the only type of football you understand ZackMills 11-03-2004, 04:07 PM So do you think he should have been fired or not? I did not watch their games that year, nor can I remember them. I am sure that they learn from their mistakes, unlike Old Man has, so no, he should not have been fired. :Smoker: MTK 11-03-2004, 04:15 PM I did not watch their games that year, nor can I remember them. I just feel that you guys are blindly following. If this were Spurrier, you guys would be calling for his head, but since Gibbs is the Almighty, you give him time. If he's the almighty, he should be winning now. Times have changed, the game has changed, and it has passed the Old Man by. :drink illdefined 11-03-2004, 05:01 PM I just feel that you guys are blindly following. Times have changed, the game has changed, and it has passed the Old Man by. :drink three super bowl rings isn't blind. relying on college championships is. Gibbs won championships with non-superstar talent and for a very long time. the plays are all the same, just their frequencies and some rules have changed. coaching is about managing your personnel, dealing with people and yes adjusting to change. the reason no one respects your argument is because you think someone proven to be UNSUCCESSFUL in the NFL is better than someone who's been proven to VERY successful. (and with Mark Rypien for heavens sake). to say a college coach with some of the best talent in the country who had two whole seasons in the NFL and FAILED over Joe Gibbs is about as blind as you can get. and i'm being kind. Times have changed, the game has changed, and it has passed the Old Man by. :drink Regardless of who the coach is, it's only fair to give the guy an honest shot to build the team. 7 games and you're writing him off? That's a joke. Who's claiming he's the almighty?? If you check out some of the predictions this summer here alot of people were predicting in the 8-9 win range, I don't think anybody realistically expected 13 wins and a Super Bowl win right off the bat. He's not the almighty as you suggest, but the guy has quite the impressive track record and he's in the Hall of Fame. His resume buys alot of patience and respect with the fans, something you don't fully understand I guess. How about we hold our judgements for 2-3 complete seasons to see if the old man has really lost it. Something tells me you'll be singing a different tune before long. |
