Not only that, the Broncos' safeties in 2008 were, by far, one of the worst tandems in the league. Shanahan sure loved his meat-heads. Maybe he himself is one.
Wide Receiver & returner? Draft? FA?SirClintonPortis 03-09-2010, 01:18 AM Not only that, the Broncos' safeties in 2008 were, by far, one of the worst tandems in the league. SirClintonPortis 03-09-2010, 01:23 AM NFL Events: Draft Player Profiles - Kareem Moore (http://web.archive.org/web/20080501020513/http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/kareem-moore?id=4479) And that's where I pulled that Ryan Clark reference. Sorry, I don't like being treated as if I'm a blind supporter of "Vinny's guys". PHazard 03-09-2010, 03:27 AM There are many viable "undrafted" possibilitiesfor the redskins at KR/PR. Guys like Trindon Holliday, LaMarcus Coker, and Brandon James, no need to waste a pick on it. And if any of those three can beat out Anthony Alridge then they double as an extra RB. I dont think we should draft a Wide Receiver. but what i WOULD consider is grabbing Limas Sweed if the steelers cut him since they signed both Arnaz Battle AND Antwaan Randle El today. Sweed's days seemed to be numbered there but when we took 3 pass catchers in the 2008 draft i was higher on Sweed than i was Kelly, and possibly even Devin Thomas as well. I think he would be a great addition. CRedskinsRule 03-09-2010, 07:16 AM We can always hope that Vinny gets another GM gig. Rumor has it he was up in Chicago last weekend. warpaint 03-09-2010, 07:27 AM Does Javon Walker have a chance of gaining his career back like R.Moss since getting released by Oakland? Also would he fit in hear? freddyg12 03-09-2010, 08:01 AM I wouldn't be upset drafting another WR, as long as we address the OL as well. I think WR is more of a need than either safety positions, but less than RB, DL, and OL (and LB, but I'm hopeful that we sign larry foote, and I think we will). I'd use one of our later round picks on a WR, and one on a RB, provided there are appropriate players worth taking at those selections. I agree MTK 03-09-2010, 08:21 AM I'm actually surprised that anyone would be surprised about ARE getting the axe. Given his slip in production last year at WR and in the return game, coupled with his $35M contract, he clearly had to go. freddyg12 03-09-2010, 08:27 AM I'm actually surprised that anyone would be surprised about ARE getting the axe. Given his slip in production last year at WR and in the return game, coupled with his $35M contract, he clearly had to go. I'm not clear on what his salary was. The wash post reported he was due a base of 1.35 mil this year, don't know about roster bonuses. I don't know if much of his contract was still due him. But I wouldn't say he had a slip in production as a wr. I think he caught 3 fewer passes last year than in 08. His punt returning went from bad to embarrassing, but I think he's still a dependable slot wr. He makes catches in the middle of the field and knows how to come back to the qb when the play breaks down. Plus he's a team player. I think he'll be solid for Pitt. again. MTK 03-09-2010, 08:34 AM Well his YPC was down to a paltry 10.6 and his TDs went to 0. And you already mentioned his production on returns was downright pathetic. Hard to justify his contract with that production. We could get those types of numbers from a guy with 1/8 of the salary. Good guy, I'm sure he will be a good fit back with the Steelers, but I think it mostly came down to his bloated contract here. There are areas of the team that can only be properly judged after being properly coached, and WR is one of them. We already have what many feel is a fairly talented trio of young WR's who with proper guidance, work ethic and motivation can/will mature into a formidable group. This coaching staff is committed to making the players we have perform better. I'm content to witness the results of that committment. Sometimes we're too quick to write off players until they have had ample opportunity to reach their maximum potential. Keenan McKardell will do a much better job with our young receivers than did Stan Hixon. |
