I've always thought too bad you can't give Montgomery the motor that Kedric Golston has. That would be a dangerous DT.

Maake Kemoeatu DT signs 2yr $7million dealFRPLG 03-10-2010, 12:12 PM I've always thought too bad you can't give Montgomery the motor that Kedric Golston has. That would be a dangerous DT. No kidding luvthemskins1975 03-10-2010, 12:19 PM He is a force in the middle! I'm glad we have him on board. If he is healthy that 3-4 defense maybe very dangerous. Hail!!! 12thMan 03-10-2010, 12:21 PM So bottom line -- I feel bad I don't know who this guy really is -- is he an upgrade over Griff? Provided he's healthy, of course. BigHairedAristocrat 03-10-2010, 12:25 PM We face Dallas 2 times a year and you are STILL mystified at a 3-4 scheme using a four-man front even some of the time? its a terminology i'm not used to, no. in fact, i havent seen it used anywhere else. if you can show me where its used commonly, i'd love to see it. BigHairedAristocrat 03-10-2010, 12:27 PM So bottom line -- I feel bad I don't know who this guy really is -- is he an upgrade over Griff? Provided he's healthy, of course. considering Griff is barely 300lbs, i'd say so although i highly doubt Kemoeatu is expected to be a long-term solution. is this our first samoan player? FRPLG 03-10-2010, 12:27 PM So bottom line -- I feel bad I don't know who this guy really is -- is he an upgrade over Griff? Provided he's healthy, of course. Oh yeah. Griff isn't a 3-4 Nose. DTs are not equivalent to Nose tackles. Good Noses are maybe they most rare player in the league. They need to be big, strong and agile. There are like 5 that are any good and everyone else pretends. AH could be the best but it would be a waste of his talents. This guy is perfect. He's big and strong and has performed. Montgomery has the size but his lack of motor could kill him at Nose because it is a motor position. He'd need to light a serious fire under his ass to do it well. Otherwise he'd be one of the pretenders. Trample the Elderly 03-10-2010, 12:32 PM Sounds like buying time until they can get a new guy up to speed at NT. 12thMan 03-10-2010, 12:35 PM Oh yeah. Sure I completely understand the difference between the two, just generally speaking it sounds like he's more effective at his position than Griff was/is at his. If that makes sense. I think you answered my question though. I'm looking forward to seeing how he works out during training camp. And no, this isn't our first Samoan player. Joe Salave'a was the first or at least the most recent. FRPLG 03-10-2010, 12:36 PM Sounds like buying time until they can get a new guy up to speed at NT. We'll need to draft one. Good Nose tackles are as hard to find as good LTs. Maybe harder. They never hit the market unless they're old or have injury issues. Ruhskins 03-10-2010, 12:38 PM Looks like the team did its homework with putting together this contract. Had this been a Vinny signing, of the 7 mil, 5 mil would have been guaranteed or something crazy like that. From Jason Reid (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/maake-kemoeatu-defensive-linem.html): Kemoeatu agreed to a two-year contract worth $7 million. Though an exact breakdown wasn't available, it's believed relatively little of the money is guaranteed. Because he's recovering from a severe injury, the contract is loaded with workout and roster bonuses. Put simply, if Kemoeatu heals and plays, he gets paid. |
