Totally agree, FD. Never understood the tweeting/facebook status updates several times a day. Who the hell cares if you're walking your dog, and why do you need to broadcast it online while/just before doing it? Popularity complex to the fullest, IMO.

In any case, this doesn't look good for twitter. I certainly don't want anything I post on the internet to be cataloged forever, but I guess it's too late.

I think this fits right inline with what the Library of Congress (or any library really) is intended to do: catalog information and/or document history. It is really a sign of the times, when it is possible to catalog so much data with relatively little effort.

I really don't get the tweeting thing. I have never tweeted or read a tweet unless it wa posted here in a post. Who cares WTF someone is doing.

I felt the same way at one point, but signed up to get the Skins info that way, then found the breakingnews.com site, and get a good rundown on the days events. I don't care about personal tweeting, like you said, I don't care if miley drank a latte etc, but you do get some people who pass along info like schefter in the nfl.

It's just another resource, and sorta circumvents normal media, so I like that too.

Twitter is great for following NFL sources like Schefter, Mort, Glazer, etc.

That I get. Its the people who tweet what they are doing and then the lost people who actually care what someone is doing. Now if some 16 yr. old girl is sailing around the world and you want to follow her jorney I can even understand that but don't tell me you follow Burt Reynolds tweets because thats too gay.
