On the comcast post game 1 commentator made a very good point, you don't change a QB who play's well and loses, and you don't keep a QB who play's bad but win's. Word's of wisdom to live bye. :cheeky-sm

Word's of wisdom to live bye. :cheeky-sm FRPLG 11-08-2004, 03:18 PM IMO we absolutly dominated this game. Our running game was as strong as we have ahd in years. Our recievers were open. Our special teams were actually special. Our protection was decent(although Brunell did get roughed up a little in the first half). Our defense just decimated the Lions and we still almost lost. At some point when everything adds up to win and we still lose you have to look at what one thing is not HELPING you win. It is obvious to me finally that Brunell needs to sit. I have held out on this decision for weeks as everyone else bitched and moaned about him. I kept thinking "well gibbs is the man and he knows better than any of us" but that fact that we won this weekend actually proved to me that he is the problem since it is obvious this team hah been doing things capable of winning. I fully expect us to suck once Ramsey gets in there But I think there is at least a chnace that things get better and we end up 8-8 or 9-7. I am utterly convinced that Brunell in there we can't win more than 2 or 3 more games. diehardskin2982 11-08-2004, 03:32 PM what brought doug williams in during that superbowl season? ChounsMan 11-08-2004, 04:00 PM I agree with not benching Brunell. Gibbs will probably use this win to motivate his starting QB & hopefully kick this offense in the ass!! If the Skins lose the next 2 out of 3, I could definitely see Ramsey coming off the bench. :dallas: Paintrain 11-08-2004, 04:41 PM Seems like it would upset the morale of the team to abandon Brunell after a win. One theory I have held lurking in my mind was that Gibbs kept thinking Brunell was gonna get injured finally and he could drop ramsey in without worrying about team morale. I doubt team morale would be damaged by making a change at QB, regardless of the outcome of the last game. 58 yards is unacceptable. The players know that. I think it would help morale to know that the passing game has a fighting chance with Ramsey. Drops aside, Brunell still had a horrid game. Even with the legitimate drops (Gardner and Betts on the sideline, Bly knocked the ball away from Coles across the middle) you can only tack on about 30 yards. The fact that Gibbs only threw the ball 3 times in the 2nd half is an obvious indictment of the QB position. lifetimeskin 11-08-2004, 04:44 PM I agree that a change maybe coming, but lets remember what we were just saying as early as 2 years ago when the ballcoach was playing musical chairs with the qbs. We were wondering why so much switching. I am giving Coac Gibbs the benefit of the doubt. He is doing it his way. We didn't quesiton him 15 years ago, and I don't feel the need to do it now. He is showing that he is sticking with "his" guys. Maybe even to a fault, I remember some Offensive Linemen sticking maybe a season or two too many. Stability is the way to success (assuming you have good [not great] players). Having said that, I do feel that a change is in the wind. Brunnel;s performance this past weekend was absolutely terrible against a poor defense, completely inept. Even Coach Gibbs will have to note that during the film sessions. I don't see him playing against Phili and/or Pitt. Those teams are going to come after us, and we need someone with a rocket arm to make them pay for that. At this point in the season we need a spark, even with Ramsay known for his turnover's, he still moved the team in NY extremely well. I think with the way our defense is playing, we could lose the turnover battle [not by 3 or more] and still win games. I can not immagine Coach Gibbs allowing this to go on much longer, he is stubborn but not an idiot. BIGREDSKINFAN63 11-08-2004, 05:04 PM what brought doug williams in during that superbowl season?jay schroder stunk up the metrodome, the skins got two tds behind, gibbs brought on williams and schroder was gone for jim lachey by october 1988. BIGREDSKINFAN63 11-08-2004, 05:06 PM ramsey has the stronger arm,a lot of those incompletes thrown by brunell would have had a better chance of completition if ramsey were qb. NY_Skinsfan 11-08-2004, 05:10 PM I think we need Ramsey for Philly and Pittsburgh. We need to score at least 21 points to have a chance in either game. I have a question, when Ramsey threw his interceptions last year did any get returned for touchdowns? Throwing pics is bad but it's tolerable if you can get the ball in the endzone more than two times. What I find amazing with Brunell is not only does he not get us into the endzone, he rarely gets us into field goal position. I would take 3,4 or 5 field goals and two touchdowns any day and I think that that could beat Philly but not to sure about Pittsburgh. The steelers are going to be the toughest test for the defense this year. That Guy 11-08-2004, 06:48 PM The way Gibbs ahs stuck by Brunell this whole time and finally we win a game and he's going to pull the plug now? Doesn't seem like a Gibbs move. Seems like it would upset the morale of the team to abandon Brunell after a win. unless brunell had ABSOLUTELY NO PART IN THAT WIN!!! 35% completion, 58 yards? come on... 4 of his 8 games here he's gone under 100 yards, including 2 performances against dreadful defenses... |
