Monkeydad 06-11-2010, 10:51 AM I use Iams, but my dog farts a lot, so I tried Nutro because it was supposed to help, but it didn't. So, back to Iams. Anyone else have this problem?
As a Boston Terrier owner, I know all about gas.
Try getting something called Acidophilus and adding it to the food if you can't find a food that cuts it down.
Dog Nutritional Supplements: Acidophilus+ (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=823)
^that bottle will last a LONG time since you only add like a tablespoon to the food. You may be able to find it cheaper locally at a pet store too.
Damn, I feel like the Warpath resident veterinarian.
GhettoDogAllStars 06-11-2010, 10:56 AM ...some times when we are on a walk or run he will fart with each step...
We call that, "crop dusting" :biggthump
i didn't click on the photos til after i posted but he is a good lookin dog i've never seen an all white boxer before
Thanks. He might be albino, but I don't think so because he has some pigment (spots, nose, etc). He's also recognized by the AKC, and as far as I know they don't recognize albinos. I actually think he has some pit bull in his heritage, although again the AKC only recognizes pure breeds afaik, but some impure ones probably get through.

Aren't boxers infamous for farting my neighbors farts like crazy.
firstdown 06-11-2010, 12:57 PM I thought it was old mother Hubbard?
Yea, your probably correct.

Any of the dogs with smashed faces/noses do.
Bostons, Boxers, Pugs, Bulldogs...
It comes from how they breathe and take in oxygen while they're eating. Weird, but I'm serious.
GMScud 06-15-2010, 12:03 AM When I lived in Gainesville, one of my workout buddies was a teaching vet at UF's school of veterinary medicine. He had three dogs and a cat and fed them all Iam's. Good enough for me. I have been feeding our cat Iam's for all 6+ years of her life, and she's just as healthy as she was when she was a kitten. Knock on wood, she hasn't had a single health issue and she's just about middle aged now. Truth be told, I'd much prefer a dog over a cat, but my wife loves cats, and I don't have the time or patience for dogs right now.

Exactly right. I have both a Boxer and an English Bulldog. They both have the issue, but the boxer is by far the worst of the two.
SBXVII 06-16-2010, 09:47 AM OK I completely forgot I started this thread but damn you people took right to it. Lots of different foods out there that you guys use. Have you guys ever heard of Natural Balance (http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/)? The only chain that it is sold in is Petco and its also sold in some of the mom and pop independent stores. Its one of the most natural and healthiest foods out there. Its right up there with Blue Buffalo and Wellness and is usually cheaper. Feel free to check out the ingredients. I also started this thread to see what I could do to make any of you switch to Natural Balance as I recently started working for them a few months back. We do tons of events on weekends where we hand out free samples, Ive recently done a NY Mets game and the Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester. If your in the Baltimore area feel free to stop by our tent at the Dogfest (http://www.dogfest2010.org/) in Timonium MD on the 19th and Ill gladly give you some samples. Hit me up if I can help you make the switch!
I guess I should say that I am NOT paid on commission so don't think Im trying to make money off you guys!
Yes used it and the dog liked it. But it's about $40 for the big bag. Plus it's not found in Giant or Shoppers or Food Lion/Bloom. So if you run out and forget you can't pick it up easily if Petco is closed.

Their also prone to heart problems. Also due to their type of skin and coat prone to skin cancers.
