If she was an adult I wouldn't give a flying f*ck what happens to her but she is not.
No tax payer money should be spent to rescue her.
Her dumbass father should be locked up for negligence.

im surprised FD isnt mad at the hundred of thousands of dollars spent by nearby countries for helicopters, boats and experts to check up on her.I think it was the Aussies that had to go look for her, not U.S. tax dollars, so who cares. :)

Sticky situation. Are the parents dumb/negligent for letting her do this, absolutely. No way I let my 17 yr. old son sail solo around the world. However, if the Aussies send a bill to the family what happens when another boat comes into distress in the same area through no fault of it's own? Do they get a bill too? The seas in that area are pretty bad from what I read.

I think this is different then Abby in that the girl is not doing it alone and they are stopping at times, just seems a heck of a lot safer.
